There are 3 stages during prenatal development, germinal, embryonic, and fetal. The germinal stage is from 0-2 weeks, starts at fertilization. When the egg and sperm meet it creates a zygote and travels down the fallopian tube to the uterus. 24-36 hours after fertilization cell division occurs, cell differentiation occurs, blastocysts develop, and implantation occurs. Next is the embryonic stage which last from 3-8 weeks. During this stage neural tube start to develop, basic body structures start to form, and neurons form. The last stage that last from 9 weeks to birth is the fetal stage. In this stage the nervous system forms and reflexes start to form, sex organs forms, there is an increase in size of the baby, organs develop, and tissues form.
