Always Room for One More is a story about a man and his wife who have a small house and shout out to the world there's always room for one more. This brings a bunch of people into their house. However, their house is to small and there is to many guests that the house collapses and there's no longer room for one more. But after that they build an even bigger house that can hold twice as much as the old house could, so there is always room for one more. I would use this book to teach children about kindness and gratefulness.

The Three pigs is a story about three pigs who set off on their own seeking fortune. However the big bad wolf follows. When he gets to the first pigs house he blows it down and eats the first pig. When he gets to the second house he blows it down and eats the second pig. However the third pig notices the other two pigs are outside of the story. So together they go out of their story and venture through other numerous stories making new friends along the way. When they get back to their story their new friends help fend off the big bad wolf and they live together happily ever after. I would use this story to teach children the power of friendship in life.

Saint George And The Dragon is a story about a knight who is journeying with a princess to kill a dragon who has been terrorizing the people for years. They arrive to the dragon's spot to fight him, then the princess leaves the battle. The knight and the dragon do battle for a while. However the knight loses the first battle. However he lands in a water stream that regenerates his health and the next day he battles the dragon once more. The next battle the knight cuts the end of the dragons tail off, but the knight still loses the battle. He lands under an apple tree which again regenerates his health. The next day he fights the dragon a third time, but this time he kills the dragon. Doing this frees the kingdom and eventually the knight and princess become king and queen. I would use this story to teach children to never give up in life.

(1948)
The Big Snow is a story about animals who are preparing for the winter. The leaves are changing colors, and the birds are flying south for the winter. Chipmunks gather supplies for their winter hibernation. The raccoons are surprised when some animals leave them with food to have for supplies during the winter. In this story it shows the struggle animals go through to prepare to the winter and it shows the beauty of nature.

Snowflake Bentley by Jacqueline Briggs Martin. (1998)

Snowflake Bentley is a story about a man named Willie Bentley who has always wanted to know what snowflakes look like. The only way to do this though was with a special camera. However he could not afford it, but his parents use their savings to buy the camera. After many attempts and fails he finally gets the picture of the snowflake he has been looking for. But where he lives they get 120 inches of snow annually so many people don't care and say that they don't need to see pictures of snowflakes. Eventually, he gets money for these pictures and gets $4,000 for them. However, it cost him 15,000 just to get the equipment so it really doesn't help him. Sadly, one day he is walking for six miles in a snowstorm and gets sick and dies of pneumonia two weeks later. I would use this story to teach children to follow your passion no matter what might get in your way.
