At the end of our novel study, my class is beginning a choice board for how they want to present their knowledge on the topic, with choices such as turning it into a play and writing an extension to a scene in the story. Another example is that my mentor teacher tries to use and teach manipulative methods in all math lessons, so that there is a multimodal approach to math. (I feel like this is rare in math).

The technological aspect of UDL is so important. Students now literally read different multimodal texts that we never did growing up, where they scan information differently, not necessarily from left to right, up and down. Images, videos, and even how text is represented have implications for processing information. We need to teach with those methods of text creation and consumption.

I am super excited to learn more about ISTE - I have definitely fallen in love with Unique Learning Software and their mini Breaking News Stories for my High School SPED Classroom. I'm curious to see what else is out there. I really want to find a way to incorporate newamericanhistory.org & bunkhistory.org but I haven't gotten there yet.

It feels overwhelming to try to cover core standards, core connectors, TPEs, UDLs, ISTEs, IEP Goals, now learning about SEIS, I hope that's the end of the acronyms we are trying to cover in our TPAs :)

When I hear the standards in class they sound great, but I don't know how actually implement them in the classroom setting.
