Why does this place look the way it does? by Grabowski, Kelli

Can you explain a place of interest? The Grand Canyon, Letchworth Park, Niagara Falls, Outer Banks, your own backyard? Pin a place, and put observations about it as you discover more.
(1) describe what a unique geologic feature is that you would see here
(2) make an inference about why it looks that way - what agent of erosion has acted on it (wind, water, glaciers, gravity)?
(3) put your name at the bottom

This place has been effected by water erosion. The rocks over the years have slowly eroded, forming this miniature waterfall at the Elma Park Creek. On some points, water doesn't flow down the wall of rocks because it wasn't hit with water as much compared to other parts, causing it to not erode and instead, become a dry spot. The rocks at the bottom of the mini waterfall are uneven at points, and slippery as well. How did the rocks at the bottom of the waterfall get there? Was it due to the running water, gravity? Would also love to see a picture!

I don't think this is Rushford Lake in NY state... Does this look like it to you? I think this is Rushford Minnesota. Also your pin is not in NY state, it's in Pennsylvania... Something is fishy here....
Rushford Lake was formed by a dam on Caneadea Creek in 1927. Resulting in the loss of the communities of East Rushford and Kellogville by flooding. (The lake still has some parts of houses, trains, etc. in it. Sometimes you can see train cars when the lake gets emptied). When it flooded, the town was already down a hill or a "dip" so the water flowed in and only stayed in that area. But as it rained, the lake filled up and eroded the sides making it bigger and smoother. When you are on your boat or jet-ski at the lake, you can driver over to the dam and you can see the water flowing down into a river. Another thing you can see is a railroad track on the side of a hill. That is because the train could transport through the town. - Maddie Berger
