To help the students and family in my community. Provide hope for those that do not know hope is available.

Showing my kids and others that receiving and getting help when needed is okay. We are a community.

My why is my parents, brother, myself, and other young students in my community who lack beneficial resources that they may not know about. I also like to be an example to many young students who are growing up in a city where there are so many stereotypes attached to us. I want to be the reason why kids push themselves to be better and prove to themselves and others that anything is possible!

My why is my drive to make an impact in Lawrence and the education system. As someone who went through the LPS system, I want students to have a better experience and a role model. Also, I have conversations with my nieces about school and they say they wish they can join Lawrence school which fills me with joy.

My why is based of my own experience I went through a lot in highschool and didn’t have much support I do this so I could be there for students and guide them the best I can . I went into this role to be an active participant in bridging gaps between the school and families. To become another support or advocate for families and students who may not have anyone or don’t know how they can advocate for themselves. I struggled a lot in the same school I work at and wished there was more understanding or more systems in place to aid me. I didn’t have an adult I could turn to on campus.

Is my family’s support. To know I have such a support behind me gives me motivation to be the support that some of students need. Knowing that a lot of students don’t have that support but are getting it from school staff, allows them to have a safe place. My family shows how strong we are when we come together in positive and negative situations. We are there for one another and steer each other in the right direction. Knowing I can help someone else do the same gives me hope for the future of these children’s lives.

My family is my "why." I want to provide for them and give back in every way I can. As the daughter of immigrant parents who sacrificed so much to give me and my sister a better life, I feel a deep sense of gratitude. Growing up in Lawrence, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges we face, and I want to be a role model for the students here. I want them to see that it’s possible to achieve their dreams and become someone, no matter where they come from.

My why is me. I was fortunate enough to have so many staff and teachers that cared about me throughout my years at school. Because of them I am able to better understand the students I work with, able to provide them with the care and love that I experienced. I would love for my students to have that trust in me and feel comfortable to tell me when they need a little more extra support / attention / love.

I am doing this for my son and for all the kids in Lawrence. I have a lot of pride in my city and I hope to contribute to all the change educators are doing right now. I want to be a apart in bettering the lives of these kids as students. My why is the students I’ve met along my educational career. I’ve met students that don’t have a voice. I’ve met students that don’t have food or family at home. I’ve always been the type of person to try to make a difference. So me taking on this role, is making a difference. I think my why is simply, helping others. I had a lot of great people in my corner growing up! They all offered me a great deal of support and love and after I graduated college I knew I wanted to do the kind of work that is fulfilling. Somehow I ended up in the school district doing what I feel like has been the kindest work ever, helping homeless kids.

My Dad is my why because he had show me Guidance and mentorship, unconditional love and support, Role modeling values and integrity. And he's the reason why I am trying to grow.

The support I had growing up was great. Especially being a young mom. I came into this role as I wanted to share what I knew to others.

I wanted the help them, guide them and share resources that most of us still don’t know about. I want to be able to give back to the community. I love to help people. I started as a Case Manager with younger parents which I loved to do. One day I went to my son school because he was receiving an award, seeing all the kids, how excited they were and seeing how innocent they are just made me want to help them. Do more for them, be able to help more families. Be someone that they can trust, and feel ok knowing they have someone helping rather that’s saying they will help them and not.

My name is Wilmarie Rosario, I’m the Student and Family Engagement Specialist at HLC. The reason why I do what I do is to offer support to our parents and students. I love engaging with parents and helping them navigate ways for them to connect and be apart of their child’s school, education and future plans.
