Physical Development
The physical changes at this stage may be evident, although not all older adults the changes in the same way. The skin of the elderly must be more delicate, it becomes covered with spots and loses elasticity; as a certain amount of fat and muscle disappears. Varicose veins in the legs are very common. Hair on the head loses its color (turns gray and then white) and body hair is sparser Loss of teeth and gum problems Reduction in height related to aging changes in bones, muscles and joints. Some less visible changes see internal organs and body systems, as well as the brain and sensory, motor and sexual functioning.

Cognitive development
Changes in cognitive skills and information processing efficiency is the general decline of the nervous system that, as time passes, affects the performance of people of late adulthood. Sensoperception, that is (vision, hearing, perception of vibrations and both recent and episodic memory) decrease Prediction, planning and control of behavior decrease Attention decreases Alteration in the ability to integrate perspective (constructivist apraxia) Language and intelligence show little deterioration.

Psychosocial Development
Relationships are important for the elderly, although the frequency of social contact decreases with age. According to the theory of the social caravan, the decrease or change of social contacts in late adulthood does not influence well-being because the support of the inner social circle is maintained. According to the theory of socio-emotional selectivity, the elderly prefer to spend time with people who contribute to their emotional well-being. Social support is associated with good health; isolation, to risk factors for mortality. Friendships have the greatest positive effect on the well-being of adults, and family relationships, with their lack, can produce the greatest negative effects. Often times, the role of multigenerational families in old age has cultural roots.
