Ecohive Academy is a company that deals with waste recycling for the production of electricity in a sustainable way. Companies of this type are useful for reducing pollution produced by waste, but above all for the production of electricity in a sustainable way. In the company they showed us some rooms, in which there were various types of operations that the company carries out for environmental sustainability. In the cinema room we saw a film, on what the company does and how it does it. At the end of the visit we played some interactive games on how to do separate waste collection in a fun way. This company visit was very nice and interesting, but above all it was nice the way in which the company explains to you what they do, in a clear and simple way.

The ecohive academy is based on recycling, reusing and reducing waste. They showed us a video where Malta's waste was collected and taken to a landfill where it was then put into a waste-to-energy plant or recycled to be used again. In my opinion this process is very important because it helps the city to get rid of waste and at the same time produce electricity. Afterwards we also played games where in a fun way they were taught how to recycle by dividing the waste into the appropriate containers.

During the session, they showed us a video where Malta's waste was collected and taken to a landfill.

The bee has been chosen as the symbol of this agency because it perfectly represents its values and mission. Bees are hardworking insects that constantly move from flower to flower in search of resources, just as the agency strives to connect and circulate ideas, information, or services. Moreover, bees symbolize cooperation, organization, and sustainability, which are fundamental qualities for an agency that cares about the environment and ecology.

The visit to ECOHIVE Academy, located within the Marsaskala Family Park in Malta, was an educational and interactive experience that allowed me to deepen my understanding of sustainable waste management. The academy’s main goal is to raise awareness, especially among young people, about the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling waste through innovative and engaging activities.

During the visit, I had the opportunity to explore various exhibition areas that illustrate the waste cycle and strategies for more sustainable management. The use of technology was particularly interesting: I interacted with digital games, augmented reality experiences, and simulations that demonstrated the environmental impact of our daily habits.

One of the most fascinating aspects was the focus on renewable energy and alternatives to landfilling, such as energy recovery and composting. Additionally, the educational journey highlighted the role of Wasteserv, the entity responsible for waste management in Malta, and its initiatives to reduce pollution.

This experience made me reflect on the importance of our daily choices in protecting the environment. We often take for granted what happens to the waste we produce, but the visit to ECOHIVE Academy made me more aware of the impact that ineffective waste management can have on nature and our health.

I found the academy’s interactive approach very useful, as it makes the topic more accessible and interesting, especially for young people. I believe initiatives like this are essential to promoting a more responsible and sustainable mindset in future generations
