         <description><![CDATA[<div>Ideally, play based for me but realistically in SG context - i agree with Fathiah, it needs a blend of both. As i look at the chart of comparison, as an educator, i prefer play-based approach but as a practitioner, when i think about parents' queries and demands in my surrounding i tend to think that it is more "convenient" to do it the formal academic coz this is how the majority of parents expect the school to be able to measure and exhibit tangible results to feel secure.&nbsp;The pressure and expectation from parents means we also need to educate the parents the benefits of play based curriculum. It's tough. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Both because one cannot survive solely by itself. Formal Academic students will excel academically but may not have life skills which are necessary to thrive in the work force. Play Based students may not be able to obtain the knowledge required for their future jobs and etc, but have the social skills to thrive.<br><br>When both work together, it allows students to obtain knowledge through their education, while learning the necessary social skills. This provides a good balance, in which students can then have have their own choice of whether to enhance their academic or social skills further according to their needs.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I do prefer a child-centred/play-based education as it will allow the children to enjoy classes more. I feel like when my class enjoys the lesson plan more when they are a part of the conversation and decision-making and digest information better. However, it can be complimentary, where teachers still do some of the teachings so it's not 100% debate between students and that teachers play an active role as a guide, mentor and also a participant.<br><br>As much as I love having fun with the kids, there is a tough balance as I have had parents reach out to me to clarify what was done in class when the kids go home and tell them that we 'played games in class'.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Based on the way I learn, I prefer play based learning.<br><br>I think the preference is based on the different ways individuals learn (learning styles) based on theories by Kolb etc. For children who are&nbsp; kinesthetic learners for example, play based  classroom would probably bring more benefits to him/her rather than a structured classroom.<br><br>The two approaches SHOULD be complementary and work hand in hand with one another. Additionally, if the teacher is able to identify what the children's interests are and apply it to his/her lessons, it would make their lessons more interesting and will more likely be able to sustain the children's attention and engagement.</div>]]></description>

That reflects on the way they think too.<br><br>I think:<br>Learning should be fun and as something that is not forced onto the individual. The individuals in the video seem to enjoy being in the school/classroom that they are in.<br><br>I wonder:<br>Reggio classrooms are great, especially for early years and preschools.
