Have a more obvious conflict. Have more imagery and use more figurative language and remember to use dialogue properly. Past Tense is also a key language feature. Be sure to use time related words like then, after and before. Remember elements like Setting, Characters, Conflict, Theme and Plot

-To check for grammar, look out for spelling, punctuation, tenses, sentence structure and subject verb agreement. 
-To make a good essay, use figurative language, dialogues, use past tense (if writing about flashbacks), use time related words (e.g. before, after, then). Use a plot diagram (freytag's pyramid), use the 5 elements (setting, characters, conflict, theme)

There should be less spelling errors because when some words are spelt wrongly they may have a different meaning.
