INTRODUCTION:

As of 2021, 5.25 trillion macro and micro pieces of plastic in our ocean & 46,000 pieces in every square mile of the ocean. Thats around 8 million pieces of plastic every day.

BODY:

Point 1: Around 70% of that plastic waste comes from disposable water bottles alone

a: Due to the convinience of using plastic bottles most people don't think about the long term impacts of thier actions.

b: Plastic over time breaks down into smaller pieces called micoplastics but is not bioderadable. Meaning substance which cannot be broken down by natural organisms and acts as a source of pollution. The plastic from these disposable bottles ends up in the oceans harming the ocean animals and plants.

Point 2: Further more the marine life if affected by these micoplastics.

a: Many sea animals eat these microplastics thinking it is food and either get severly sick or die due to the harmful chemicals present in the plastic called PCBs, PBDEs and PAHs.

b: Over 1 million marine animals including mammals, fish, sharks, turtles, and birds are killed each year due to plastic debris in the ocean.

Point 3: Adding onto the issue the amount of plastic form the plastic water bottles leads to plant life dying.

a: As when the plastics settled on the sea bed they can smother any life that calls the sea floor home.

b: The plants that originally lived there now can no longer find space on the sea bed to attach thier roots to and instead get smaller and smaller in numbers.

CONCLUSION:
Now I have told you many facts and statistcs on the harmful affects of using disposable plastic bottles. Using disposable bottles makes life easier but at what cost. Are you going to ignore it or are you going to make changes to your daily life and quit using disposable bottled water?

Ditch The Plastic.

INTRODUCTION

Look at the picture above, doesn't it depress you that such beaches exist. Over 2.6 pounds of trash are on beaches alone. Over 91% of this waste is plastic. Plastic waste is a big problem. Who would such a monstrous thing you ask? Well, sadly, the answer is us, humans. We waste over 1,000 pounds each year. Today I am going to convince you why we should ditch the plastic.

BODY

Point 1: Plastic is a non-renewable resource

a: Humans use plastics, faster than plastic decomposes. We use plastic too much. Last time I went to get groceries, I counted 10 plastic bags. That means we use about 520 plastic bags a year! And we are just one family!

b: Another example is, 300 million tons of plastics are used annually, yet it can take over 1,300 years for this to decompose. By then we will trash over 390,000 tons of trash This will lead to more plastic on land than soil! Imagine that?!

Moving On...

Point 2: Many sea animals consume plastics and become sick

a: Plastics cause blockages in the turtle digestive system. This is like having a plastic bottle in your intestines. Turtles are animals too

b: Plastics are the cause of 5 out of 10 turtle deaths . If we stop using plastics, about 50% of the number of turtle deaths can be prevented. Would you want to die by a plastic bottle?

Passing On...

Point 3: Plastic waste harms the environment

a: Tiny plastics, called micro-plastics, pollute soil, and make it unfarmable. Lesser land for farming can mean a scarcity of food. As far as I now, I would NOT want to walk 10 miles just to get bread

b: In 2015, over 25,000,000 tons of plastic ended up in landfills, making the land unsuitable for farming. This wastes over 16,000 acres of land that could have been used to farm. That's about over a quarter of million houses!

CONCLUSION

Now that I've told you why to Ditch The Plastic, let's explore some alternatives. Living in the modern world today, it is nearly impossible to avoid plastic altogether. This is because plastic a cheap packing material. Businesses use plastic to pack their goods, without realizing the huge impact they are leaving. You can limit your weekly usage by using a fabric/cloth bag every time you get groceries instead of using plastic bags. You can also stop using plastic straws and switch to reusable steel or metal straws. In short, we need to adopt using the 3 R's. Reuse.Recycle.Reduce.

Do you want to add to the amount of plastic waste by using a plastic bottle? Do you want a sea turtle to die by using a plastic bottle? Do you like unfarmable land by using a plastic bottle? Now, if you want your children to have clean beaches, Ditch The Plastic.

#DitchThePlastic

INTRODUCTION:
Did you know almost 90% of the world has stopped social interaction as phones, computers, and more came into play and it got worse as COVID-19 hit, it stopped the ability for people to interact with others and people got stuck on their phones with too much spare time.

BODY:

Point 1: Video games allow people to learn teamwork

a: Video games allow people to connect and cooperate with others which will help them talk to new friends or new people when they are in a certain situation.
b: Video games also allow people to create alliances and create teams that work cooperatively

Point 2: Video games allow kids to communicate effectively

a: Online games allow constant communication between players which results in a development of both meaningful and casual relationships
b: Online video games allow players to talk to each other and make friends at their current ability even when they are not able to leave their home

Point 3: Video games allow kids to learn leadership

a: Almost 89% of gamers know how to lead and handle a group and solve problems creatively
b: Teamwork in video games is necessary but learning how to manage and control the team is even more needed which can help you in a future situation

CONCLUSION:
video games can help kids and adults interact with other people while having a fun experience.

INTRODUCTION:
As many as 100 million sharks are killed every year. But what if all the sharks went extinct. Today I'm going to answer the splendid question... "What if there were no sharks???"
BODY:
1. If there were no sharks the food chain would be total chaos.
A) Since sharks are at the top of the food chain, them being gone would mean that the food chain can't be balanced. If this happens it would be chaos.
B) For example, take my friend Mr. Ray. Mr. Ray's friends are eaten by hammerhead sharks. And Mr. Ray's friends also dine at the "All you can eat Ray Buffet" where they eat scallops. But if there were no sharks the rays would all eat out the scallops. Then they would die because there are no scallops to eat. This is the ending of a food chain.
C) Something similar to this happened in South Carolina, lots and lots of hammerhead sharks got fished and killed for their fins.
2. Sharks are very important to the ecosystem.
A) As apex predators, sharks play an important role in the ecosystem. Their role is to maintain the species below them in the food chain, as well as an indicator for ocean health.
B) Sharks are important because they remove the weak and sick fish from the water. Since the weak and sick marine animals can harm a coral reef a lot, by removing them shark are balancing the ecosystem.
3. Many marine animals would face extinction.
A) Since shark remains feed Orcas, Octopuses, and even other sharks. No sharks would mean their risk of starvation and extinction would get higher.
B) For example, tiger sharks live in sea-grass meadows. That is also where sea turtles graze on the plenty of sea grass. The tiger sharks stop them from over-feeding. This will mean that the under water vegetation will be all gone, and that can cause a big problem.
4. Why are sharks killed, and what can we do?
A) Countries use destructive fishing practices to kill 100 million sharks every year, and are in a large part responsible for killing about 70% of the shark population in the last 50 years. "Why?" I always think. People kill sharks for their fins and throw away their bodies. This is known as shark finning. Did you know that 73 million sharks are killed just for their fins. Some people hunt sharks for no reason at all. "Sharks aren't the bad guys we are."
B) People also make movies against sharks, for example "JAWS" this is a movie which has made many people think sharks are killers. But are they?
C) Nope. Sharks are powerful creatures, that is true, but they don't attack people on purpose. They attack only when provoked, or as a misunderstanding. We can stop hunting sharks, instead we can preserve them from being hunted.
CONCLUSION:
Now are you afraid of sharks? Because instead of harming the food chain and ecosystem, they are helping them stay balanced. Sharks aren't the killers we think they are... So, what are YOU going to do? Help sharks, or hunt them.
What is scarier than a ocean with sharks?
An ocean without sharks #SaveSharks
