The QCA campus does not show as a welcoming space because it looks nothing special. When people come they don’t feel wanted to stay longer. Therefore by using Transitional, the area a sense of balance that’s appealing and unexpected. The transitional design also involves relatively neutral colour palettes, creating a calming and relaxed space that manages to feel both stylish and sleek, as well as warm and inviting. Project:

QCA is an art and design school with approximately 1300 students studying at South Bank, along with approximately 50 staff on campus during the teaching periods. QCA moved to south Bank in 2001 and over the last 20 years has established a strong cultural and creative community.

Griffith University, Queensland College of Art, Southbank. The client has commissioned students to redesign the South Bank forecourt into a space that connects together the QCA students, staff body and visitors to the campus.

The brief was to design a student space that will benefit and showcase various artworks of students from the multidisciplinary areas of QCA students and staff, provide an appealing and enjoyable walking area that clearly guides people by wayfinding through QCA and the galleries, clear recognition of acknowledgement of the traditional custodians of the land, in a space that strengthens Griffith University ethos and QCA's calibre of ecological and sustainable design and providing, a space enabling student body/staff and visitors to the campus to socialise and interact to gather within the Southbank art hub to grow as a design student.

QCA has a great reputation as well as being one of the oldest in Australia needs to continually improve and move forward so the students are continually challenged to grow and learn and design better and further using products that are old and new and more eco respectful to a better place to live.

First of all, I think this course was too much for me because this course especially requires you to know how to use the Revit All that you need to design is on Revit. I am scared because I have never used Revit before. I was very happy they were opened one lecture to show you how to understand what assignment request on Revit actually is.

IDE4 course was a wonderful experience that I completely studied online. This course is also helping me further understand the Revit, redesign the new environment like SOUTH BANK FORECOURT PROJECT. For my part IDE4 is a huge course. All you need is to put yourself in your design and how you connect all the spaces together and be more inclusive

The exercises were enjoyable, they continued to enhance our skills within the interior industry. Focusing on schedules and standards they were a good addition for individual learning. The new weekly exercises were a great thought to help to contribute to the overall outcome to enhance my learning and understanding of the course.

Peer groups were beneficial to the learning process and helped give myself the feeling of working within a team on a collaborative project. Having a project that was for an actual client helped solidify the importance of the project outcome. I do feel, however, that redesigning the whole forecourt was a little overwhelming but still really enjoyed the experience working on a real project. If the project was focused on just the cafe for a redesign I believe stronger outcomes could have been achieved.
