In the factory Iqbal and the children worked 12 hour shifts with one half hour break. 
Iqbal dreamed of school but the interest on his fathers debt ensured Iqbal would remain in the factory for six more years until the government banned child labor. Although Iqbal was excited his fellow laborers tempered his excitement. Once Iqbal went to the police station to protest his labour but was taken back to the factory where he was subsequently beaten.
