Alternative Ending:

As I rode Birdie through the icy canyon, the darkness seemed to coalesce into a palpable entity. The pine trees loomed like sentinels, their branches creaking ominously. Suddenly, a figure emerged from the shadows – a woman, dressed in a long, pine-green cloak, her eyes aglow like embers.

Without a word, she reached out and grasped Birdie's bridle, leading us through the winding ravine. The canyon walls seemed to close in, forming an abyss-like trap. I felt a shiver run down my spine.

As we approached the campfire, the woman vanished into the darkness, leaving me staring at the flames. Jack and Alex were nowhere to be seen, but a note on the ground read:

"Follow the river, and beware the pine-darkened path."

I remounted Birdie, feeling the refrozen snow crunch beneath her hooves. The darkness seemed to pulse with an otherworldly energy, guiding me toward the unknown.

I managed to grab onto a tree and survived the fall without injury, but Birdie kept sliding further down. Worried and searching for him, I could hear his cries of pain, growing louder as I got closer. I went down further, and that’s when I spotted something near a rock ……it was Birdie, injured. Tears welled up in my eyes as I looked at his condition. Without wasting any time, I quickly began healing his wounds. I called out for Birdie, but only the echoes of my voice returned.

Suddenly, I noticed a trail of footprints leading into the forest. Without a second thought, I followed them. The night grew colder, and the shadows seemed to come alive. After what felt like hours, I heard a faint whimper.

There, under a large tree, was Birdie, tangled in some underbrush. I was unharmed by the fall since I was able to hang on to a tree, but Birdie continued to slide downward. I was worried and looking for him, and I could hear his pained screams, which grew louder as I approached. As I descended more, I noticed something close to a rock—it was Birdie, hurt. My eyes filled with tears as I observed his state. I wasted no time at all in treating to his injuries. I didn't even realize we had arrived at the location we were looking for since I was so focused.

I felt a wave of comfort as I noticed the campfire blazing in the distance. Whispering, "We're almost there, Birdie,". However, Birdie collapsed, his legs buckling under him. I got off the horse fast and tried to push him on, but, Birdie collapsed into the snow. Tears filled my eyes. Birdie had been my faithful companion through every trial, but now he was gone. The campfire was just ahead, but it felt miles away as I walked the rest of the way alone.

Isabella and her horse, Birdien, had ridden six miles and were approaching the mountains. They found a place to stop, but as they continued, the peak became darker and covered in ice. Birdie slipped and started to fall. Isabella tried her hardest, but they both fell apart.

Birdie was stuck between a few boulders near a precipice, and Isabella lost sight of him. She cried out and heard him instantly. He was safe below, perched on a ledge. looked down at him, feeling relieved.

They came onto a chart showing a path that would keep them safe from the storm and a shimmering tunnel filled with water. Isabella realized they had found a passage ahead while she slept in the cave.
