Settling into a naturally-structured world, our environment works at its own function, without major aids from humans. As guests of this world, we must understand patterns of nature in order to adapt and survive. With that, I think Mathematics is a language invented by humans based on discoveries of how nature works. As seen present in biomimicry. With this basic understanding, humans then proceed to invent practical Mathematics that helps us in our daily lives.

The common mathematical language that we use now was invented. These concepts we use such as numbers, symbols, and calculations are basically labels that we invented to describe various things in our daily lives. However, I believe that Mathematics in itself has existed from the beginning of time along with nature and hence was discovered. Mathematics is a lot more than just a language, it is also a science that explains patterns of the universe and an art that allows us to enjoy the beauty of nature. The existence of the natural world must be due to the various mathematical patterns that exist. These patterns are what inspired people to then invent this mathematical language that became universal.

Most of the time, we purposely invent a set of theories that will lead us to come across a set of facts that we want to be true. So, mathematics is a dynamic mixture of inventions and discoveries. Yes, humans invented numbers, forms, sets, lines, and so on of mathematical principles, but they do so by abstracting information from the world around them.

The world around us consists of numerous complex processes and concepts that we otherwise cannot explain without the help of mathematics and science. With that, I believe that mathematics was invented to help explain the discoveries that we uncovered. We created mathematical symbols, theories, and concepts in order to help us better understand as well as to give an explanation and reasoning to the world around us.

The phrase "exponential growth" is used popularly to describe a number phenomena. Do you think that using mathematics language can distort understanding?

Unlike literary words that tend to broadly emphasize meaning, or impact, mathematical words are more often used in an appropriate context. When using the word “exponential”, the behavior of the information described is associated by the exponential function. In this case, the word “exponential” as defined by google, has two situations of usage. One is an adjective that simply depicts a rapid increase, and second is a mathematical term that refers to mathematical exponent. Therefore, I disagree that the colloquial usage of mathematical language in a “less” mathematical situation always directly distort understanding, but just that some informations communicated with this “mathematical language” may need to be clarified in order to prevent misleading understanding.

In my opinion, using mathematical language doesn't distort understanding. In fact, it can usually help is in understanding things better. Mathematical terms can be very useful when it comes to describing patterns or trends in both natural and social sciences. For instance, "exponential growth" describes the pattern or rate in which the new coronavirus spreads. It helps people understand the importance of preventing the virus to spread even further.
