The public stigma surrounding mental illness, usually propagated by popular media, is debilitating to students in school, who, as a result, do not seek the help that they need. This can lead to a worsening of symptoms and an interference with success later in life. However, the stigma surrounding mental illness can be reduced in schools by creating a comprehensive workshop for teachers and students during school hours in which all of the student body is educated on topics relating to mental health, including types of disorders, stigma, ways to improve mental health, and how to identify and help people with low mental health or a mental disorder.
