My name is Julianna Meyers and I am 22 years old. I live in and was born in Alexandria, VA. My pronouns have always been she/her. Since I can remember, I have carried a natural appreciation and liking towards art, and with time, I have grown to appreciate it and love it even more. This is because it carries so much influence and power to connect to, move, and heal those in its presence as well as those who create it. I do believe it is true that many artists use art as an outlet for pain, and I can definitely attest that in hard times, it has carried me through. This is especially true for music, poetry, and photography. I personally have alway had a passion for singing and writing music, writing my own poetry, and taking pictures, whether they be of common life situations, world issues, or simply portraits. I have also always enjoyed drawing and painting. In middle school I took an art class and was in the highest level of chorus. At NOVA I have taken a History of Art class and passed. The best thing about art in my opinion, is that there are so many different types of it since it doesn’t have a super concrete definition. I feel like this makes it easier for everyone to create some sort of art if they would like to. Art has given humanity a way to express imagination, and expression is extremely important to me.
