It was the earliest memorial museum that is still standing. It was known as the “Door of No Return” because it was where slaves were kept before they were transported to different countries. It was made into an art museum to remember all the slaves that suffered there. It goes on to show the beginning of memorial museums used to remember and honor the victims no matter how tragic the historical event was.

During her time hiding in the attic she kept a diary with entries about her life during that time in history. The Home she stayed in later became a museum which allows us to learn more about what the situation was like during the holocaust. Her story is important because it led us to learn more about history through her diary entries and her house.

This museum was the start of the many museums honoring and shining light on the holocaust and the aftermath of it. After this many more museums were made and opened all over the world educating people on the tragic history.  Given the fact that this is the place where the executions happened and it became a museum shows how important it is to have places where history happened turned into a museum for education. Historical places like Auschwitz-Birkenau put into perspective what we have learned from history which is why it must be preserved.

It not only honors victims but it also honors the survivors of the holocaust. The exhibit consists of images of the victims and survivors shining light on who they were. This is one of the first memorial museums to include images and descriptions instead of just being a historical building, both of which are very important as more  memorial museums  are made.

This museum also follows the theme of honoring the victims but it adds personal artifacts of the victims along with the images. It's important that along with honoring the victims we add artifacts that show the aftermath and or result of the tragedy so people can get educated about it. This is important to museum practice because it shows how parts of past historical museums have influenced this exhibit.

Through the building and her dIary entries we are able to see a piece of history that was caused by tragic events much like the ones mentioned before. Like some of the other holocaust memorials this one shows a real life place making the historical events more real and easier for people to picture. This museum is in a way the product of multiple other historical museums but more importantly Auschwitz-Birkenau and Yad Vashem. Even Though, the events did not take place in the US they still decided to honor the holocaust victims. This goes on to show the influence memorial museums have around the world. Given that it is a more modern museum it shows how different honoring museums look like through history.

Given the fact that the memorial stands where the towers used to show the significance of making memorials where tragedy has struck and educating people while honoring the victims instead of shutting it down or hiding it. When it comes to this memorial it is obvious that its exhibit was inspired by other memorials due to the fact that it includes artifacts of the victims and debris of things from that day.

The influence of other memorial museums is shown in the exhibits due to them  containing walls of pictures of the victims much like Yad Vashem. This goes on to show that even though museums are taking a more modern take when it comes to honoring their victims, photographs and artifacts are always going to be a part of the memorials no matter how much time has passed and it will follow through more centuries.
