         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Declaration of Independence in 1776 was important for many reasons. One reason is social changes. These social changes include the establishment of the concept “all men are created equal”, which is found directly in the document. At the time, this challenged the pre-existing social hierarchy with wealthy white men being at the top.          <description><![CDATA[<p>The Patriot Act, passed after the events in 9/11, allowed the government more abilities to gather information via technology, claiming it was to help locate terrorists and attackers. This became a pretty split issue socially. 50-35% of the population at the time had supported the Patriot Act, saying it keeps the country safer. Others protested against it, claiming it gave the government too much power, and as the image depicts, some were pretty paranoid. It was a turning point in how people view government with new ideas such as popular sovereignty, equality, and rights. Popular sovereignty is a concept stating that American citizens vote for government officials and other power-holding people. The rights they are given allow them to take down the government if it is deemed unconstitutional or if they believe it is unfair. “We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness…” This quote from the Declaration of Independence covers different aspects of government that the American people did not have while living in Great Britain.</p>]]></description>

Spending on foreign affairs, homeland security and defense was increased 50%, totaling at $547 billion dollars in that fiscal year. Ranges of Americans were buying stocks including the ones that didn't have the money to do so, with that being said they had to invest with borrowed money from banks, and that led to banks going bankrupt, men and women losing their life savings, they feared losing their jobs, and worried whether if they could pay their bills or support their families. This fear reduced the purchase of big-ticket items like cars which led to slowed production of these items. The crash also led to the Great Depression.</p>]]></description>

From 1960 to 1973, the US federal government invested $25.8 billion into&nbsp;<a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.planetary.org/space-policy/cost-of-apollo#:~:text=How%20much%20did%20the%20Apollo%20program%20cost%3F%20The,a%20total%20of%20%2428%20billion%20%28%24280%20billion%20adjusted%29.">Project Apollo</a>, which is about $257 billion in 2025's economy. That comes out to $1,534 per person in the US at the time. After the United States bombed Japan the people who were exposed to the radiation and that lived near the attack site were discriminated against. This was because of their radiation exposure. The people were unable to get married, obtain a proper education, or obtain a successful job. In the United states peoples view of using atomic weapons was altered because of all the aftermath of and adverse effects of the attack. This has caused many people to this day to be strongly against using these types of weapons again because of the level of destruction. After the weapons was used there was a blend of pride because of the complex invention that was made on american soil and its ability to end the long war. Fear because of the realization of how terrible the weapon actually was as well the power of destruction that the weapon was capable of.
