1. How will you sustain engagement with your learners and parents? What tool will you most likely use?
Ans. To sustain engagement with learners and parents, we have to update and communicate with them always with the use of SMS or through Fb Messenger since these are the only available "means of communication" of the parents in the community where we are assigned to.
2. What is/are common barriers of learning in your classroom? How will you reduce it?
Ans. There are still students who cannot read well, there are also students who can read but cannot comprehend and I think these are the reasons why they lack interest to learn. So every Friday, we conducted Remedial Reading with free snacks to motivate them and sometimes free lunch and I hope we can still do this during this most trying time though virtually I guess and again it will be a great challenge for us and to our students.
3. What alternative modalities for expression will you allow the students to use?
Ans. Well, we already have our Group Chats so they can ask help from us.

1. How will you sustain engagement with your learners and their parents? What tool will you most likely use?
* Communication is significant in the distance learning for the new normal education in order to engage the learners as well as their parents, subsequently the most convenient and practical ways that we can use in the set up that we currently faced is through the social media in the different platform like google meet, zoom and through the messenger and face book page. Further, through cellphone numbers in which to call and text the learners and parents. Yet, we also do writing our feedback in the modules for the learners to be aware of the progress and weakness in the answered modules.
*The best tools that I used for distance learning (modular approach), such as;
a. remind - teacher's text reminders keep students and parents up to speed
b. Talking points - multiligual texting tool enhances school to home communication.
2. What is/are the common barriers of learning in your classroom? How will reduce it?
- The common barriers that the teacher encounter in the classroom with this new normal education are as follows, to wit;
a. reproduction of the modules per subject area
b. lack of supplies to sustain the weekly release of the modules
c. duplication of answers from every learners in the subject areas
d. the quality of outputs by the learners in answering the modules
e. some of the students return the modules with minimal answers, worst is no answer at all
*The issues and barriers enumerated above can be reduced through strategic planning and collaborative efforts of teachers, administration, stakeholders and parents to address the barriers. As teachers, conduct of remediation and intervention to the learners is significant in this new normal education, hence the design of the intervention must adhere to the protocols and standard by the Department of health in general.
3. What alternative modalities for expression will you allow the student to use?
*For an alternative modalities for expression that I will allow the learners to use are, to wit;
a. use multiple media for communication to express learning in flexible ways, yet in my case remind and talking points is the most ideal scenario considering that most of the learners can access to cellular pnones
b. build fluent and minimal levels of support for practice and performance, the application to gradually release scaffolds to support independent learning in this pandemic through the modular approach. The RBI (radio based instruction) is one way to enhance the difficulties our learners are facing as a challenge for the distance learning.

Give time, lend a helping hand and listening ears and heart to our learners, parents and school clientelle. Be there! If they need help, guidance, support and assistance, be there!
The helpful tools that I'm pretty sure that would be fitted and applicable to out elementary learners are Facebook, Messenger, Youtube, zoom, google class and google meet. If we only spare time.
2. The common barriers of learning, that we found out in my class and even on the entire school are as follows:
♡ time
♡ support from parents & guardians
♡ uneducated parents (were they can't help and support their children, for the reason that they can teach because they don't know.
But still there is apositive side of this scenario...

1.) How will you sustain engagement with your learners and their parents? What tool will you most likely used?
Ans: Making my pupils and parents feel that they are not alone in this abnormal
fight for education is the best way to sustain their engagement. Even though
without F2F, my presence will still be felt thru calls and texts to those with no
high-tech gadgets; thru FB messenger and youtube to those with
connectivity.

2.) What is/are the common barriers of learning in your classroom? How will you
reduce it?
Ans: Poor internet connectivity, gadgetless pupils, uneducated parents, poor
reading and comprehension skills, and pupils'/parents' negative attitude
towards the accomplishment of modular tasks are some of the barriers I
experienced in the 1st month of school. To lessen these barriers, I think
home visitation is the best, following health protocols, to conduct remedial
teaching, since majority of my pupils has no access to the internet. Making
also the parents understand their great resposibility on their kids' future can
also be realized during home visits. Talking to them heart-to-heart is the key.

3.) What alternative modalities for expression will you allow the student to use?
Ans: Messenger group chat, modular, radio-based instruction, and tv-based
instruction thru the DepEd Channel are quite helpful in this time of
pandemic.

Knowing that our school is a COVID-free barangay, F2F meeting is not a big issue for as long as Health Protocols set by the IATF are strictly followed. How will you sustain engagement with your learners and their parents ?
To sustain engagement with my learners and their parents specially in the New Normal System of Education we are having right now,is through having a good flow of communication through the messenger , a phone call and also during the retrieval and distribution of modules. Through this i can easily follow up how they are doing with their modules, assist them if necessary and remind them to perform the given task for their outputs.
Communicating through messenger as well as calling them through phone is the common tool i used to communicate them.
2.What is/are the common barriers in your classroom? How will you reduce it.
The common barrier in my classroom in a face to face delivery is only the behaviour of my pupils wherein most are hyper active. Giving them more activities fort them to keep busy is my way of reducing it.
As for this moment being in the New Normal set up, in which we are adapting Modular and Radio based Instruction the barrier for modular is that there are a lot of activities for the pupils to accomplish which is quite a burden for grade 2 pipils to handle by themselves. Parents guidance is really a need for them to tackle everything. For this matter, I edited some of the modules and select activities for them to do. For radio based, poor internet connection is a barrier for them to access in FB Live Streamimg and also the Radio frequency which is not reachable in some areas. Encouraging the parents support and understanding is one way of reducing these barriers.
3. What alternative modalities for expression will you allow the students to use?
Since i am handling grade 2 children, the only alternative modality for them to express which I can allow them is through video and send it through messenger.

Thank you so much Ma'am Jechelle Kate for sharing your experties.I am so proud of you being one of your teachers in Elementary.

ARLENE C. RENDON - TAGUILON ES
1. How will you sustain engagement with your learners and their parents?
In this new normal setting, I need to engage with my supportive parents through verbal communication upon receiving the modules of their pupils. This is the most practical way since not all parents have cellphones. To get in touch with my learners, I send them notes but for those who have cellphones I connected/monitor their learning progress through call, text and chat. For those I found difficult to reach out because their parents were busy, I conducted home visitation.
2. What is/are common barriers of learning in your classroom? How will you reduce it?
The common barriers of learning in my classroom this time is lack of thematic modules. So, we need to reproduce it. Another is poor comprehension. Learners find difficult to understand and answer the given activities correctly. So, before releasing the modules teachers make some examples/guides and give some clarification to the activities which is hard for them to answer.
3. What alternative modalities for expression will allow the students to use?
I encourage my learners to express/ask queries through cellphone. They can chat, call, text whenever they found difficulties in answering modules. But I discourage them to post through FB. For those who have no cellphone they can write/send a letter to me if they need my help and assistance.

ANNIE B. SANTOS/ CANLUCANI ES
1. How will you sustain engagement with your learners and their parents?
Answer: Being a new normal teacher in this pandemic crisis, one way to sustain engagement with my learners and their parents is to communicate with them oftentimes. I must give them ample time through e-communication and f-to-f with the parents during the retrieval to hear their feedbacks about the modules and activity sheets given to them, may it be positive or negative so I can give my reinforcement if needed.
2. What is/are the common barrier in my classroom? How will you reduce it?
Answer: Lack of gadgets, poor internet connectivity, lack of knowledge due to less educated parents, poor reading and comprehension skills are the common barriers in my classroom. To lessen their burden, as a teacher I must conduct remediation and interventions. Provide them with reading materials especially for those slow readers that can comprehend less suited to their abilities.
3. What alternative modalities for expression will you allow to students to use?
Answer: Radio-Based Instruction (RBI) is one way to help my students understand/comprehend to a certain lesson given to them. They may also use ICT for further understanding and as reinforcement for those who have gadgets.

Thank you so much Ma'am for sharing your insights..

1. How will you sustain engagement with your learners and their parents ?
In this New Normal set-up, communication with parents through phone calls or in social media is very important especially in asking for some feedbacks and giving them some reinforcement when there is a problem encountered when going through the modules.
2.What is/are the common barriers in your classroom? How will you reduce it.
As of now, since we are adopting Modular mode of learning I have received a lot of feedbacks that my pupils was having a hard time answering their modules. Maybe because most of them cannot comprehend easily the tasks or the lesson in the modules. So as a teacher, I told my parents that whenever their is a topic they cannot fully understand they may call or text us (subject teachers) to give them some clarifications.
3. What alternative modalities for expression will you allow the students to use?
For those who have gadgets, they can call or text me or through my messenger. And for some, they can send me a note and let their parents give it to me.

Thank you ma'am. God bless!

LORENA G. DIMASUHID - Dapitan City SPED Center

1. One of the most practical way to sustain engagement with my learners and their parents is through verbal communication during retrieval and distribution of modules. Another is through text messages or phone calls. In releasing of modules, I attach notes and include feedbacking form.

2. The common barriers in learning are: a) motivation or the "availability to learn"; b) social and cultural barriers; c) emotional factors; and d) personal issues that affect learning. The best way to reduce and deal with these is to identify them as early as possible. We should remember that intervention is much more effective the younger the pupil or student is and less entrenched the difficulties and coping strategies are. So interventions can be put into place to empower that pupil to overcome his/her barrier.

3. There is no medium of expression that is equally suited for all learners or for all kinds of communication, that's why it is important to provide alternative modalities for expression to allow the learner to easily express knowledge, ideas, and concepts in the learning environment.
Knowing that my pupils have preferences for how they express themselves, (orally, written, and visually), I provide multiple ways for them to demonstrate their competency.
In an F2F setting, I would let my pupils use physical manipulatives ( wooden or 3D blocks) , and b) draw, design or make comic strips in order to express themselves. There are times that I would let them use calculators as the need arises. With regards to lesson delivery, I use concept maps for their easy understanding especially that of a quite complex topic/lesson, and refer to them videos which could aid in their learning as well.
In this "new normal", e-communication ( text messages, use of messenger and, facebook) is of great use.
