I have heard from past students that were in the "off" semester that they were disappointed that they weren't afforded the opportunity. I think that change was  wonderful, even with the challenges of timing and all that jazz. I also love that the tech classes were involved with this because they had incredible insight and feed back in discussions and thus found the just as meaningful.

More like a typical show. I had a lot of kids coming out of My Father's Dragon asking if that was what all plays were like and I had to explain a lot. I also knew nothing about the show and no one knew what was going on and I'm worried it was a negative experience for some based on that. So now their only experience with theatre is this obscure silent movement piece. I just don't have a parent population that can readily volunteer during the work day. I had ONE parent volunteer (who was the parent of a student with Intellectual Disabilities who typically has an aide, so they weren't necessarily there for other students necessarily). I asked: parents of ALL my students (including Advanced), other teachers at my school, our IB coordinator, our literary coach, our counselors, administration, part time teachers, theatre subs, my principal's announcement to all parents, basically ANYONE that I could ask. I spent more time looking for adult support than I did doing anything else. If your Advanced Theatre class is responsible, check with the Librarian about whether they can meet there for independent driven work where the Librarian is an adult supervisor but isn't having to teach.
