1. We close read a picture. At the beginning of every chapter in the text there is a picture that displays the main idea of the chapter.
2. We do unit online article reviews. Students read current events or recent articles that directly relate to content we are covering in the unit. We used "close reading" prior to taking an assessment.  Students were to look over the various terms on the assessment,  place question marks by the ones they did not understand.
