Samin Sarwat(A22EC4040)

1)From challenges I face in my daily round of life, I practice applying philosophy in gaining wisdom and perspective. From all the trials I've gone through, moving period was the hardest when I had to make a career path decision of technology or business. I adored both of them but couldn't choose which field I was to concentrate on more.

Aristotle's comments on the whole being more than the mere sum of its parts persisted in my mind, encouraging me to consider options that would allow me to be more active on campus. As software technology made easy connections among people and things, it became clear to me that I was able to start a tech venture, using tech to solve business problems.

I began to research on startups and interact with professionals. Making that decision allowed me to merrify myself once more. Thus, I got fresh chances and prospect to grow. I decided to dive into a tech startup working with companies learning how to use my technological abilities to make businesses better.

2)A quote by Friedrich Nietzsche has always inspired me: It comes also, as a savior: “He who has a why to live can bear almost any how.” I have experienced the importance of this quote particularly during tough times. Whenever I got stuck with studies and similar affairs, the idea of my motivation and reasons of continuing with success became the only strong point.

This quote made remember me the paramount importance of setting the goals and then doing everything possible to accomplish them even when the roads seems to be full of obstacles. It is like a redemptive feature depicted in my life as it makes me regard every obstacle as an opportunity for self-enhancement.

=> Philosophy plays a significant role in shaping my approach to life. I integrate various philosophical principles into my daily existence, guiding my actions and mindset. One fundamental aspect is embracing change, understanding that it is a natural part of life's evolution. This perspective, influenced by works like "From Darkness Into Light," encourages me to adapt, grow, and find opportunities amidst transitions.

=>As Friedrich Nietzsche said, "He who has a why to live can bear almost any how." This quote resonates with me as it emphasizes finding purpose and meaning in life, which aligns with my approach to embracing change and managing emotions through philosophy.

=> Moreover, I draw from philosophical teachings, such as those by Haemin Sunim in "The Things You Can See Only When You Slow Down," to cultivate emotional intelligence, particularly in managing anger. By practicing mindfulness and self-awareness, I strive to respond to challenges with patience and composure, seeking harmony within myself and with others.

Actually , philosophy serves as a compass, guiding me towards personal growth, resilience, and a deeper understanding of life's complexities.

(1)Philosophy influences how I think, solve problems, and make decisions every day. It provides me with the tools I need to understand complex ideas, challenge assumptions, and discover the truth. I use critical thinking to question, evaluate evidence, and consider alternative viewpoints, which helps me make better decisions and deal with life's ups and downs. In short, philosophy serves as a compass for me as I learn, understand, and grow as a person.

(2)The quote "This too shall pass" has a deep resonance with me. It serves as a reminder that both the joys and difficulties we face in life are fleeting. During difficult times, it provides comfort, reminding me to be patient and resilient, knowing that the difficulties will eventually pass. Similarly, when I experience success or happiness, it encourages me to fully appreciate and cherish them, knowing that they, too, will pass. This quote reminds me to keep my perspective and stay grounded, no matter what circumstances I face, ultimately allowing me to navigate life with a sense of balance and calm.

XING QINHAO A22EC4015

1.Philosophy plays an important role in my daily life. Although I may not have studied philosophy systematically, I find myself often thinking about various issues in life and trying to understand them from a philosophical perspective. For example, when I face a moral choice or a major decision in life, I will think about different ethics and values to find the most appropriate course of action. In addition, philosophy has inspired me to think about the meaning and purpose of life.

2. "Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration." Edison's famous saying has a huge impact on me. It reminds me that success does not come out of thin air, and makes me understand that success often comes through day after day accumulation and continuous hard work. Therefore, I work hard to cultivate my perseverance and patience, firmly believing that as long as I persevere, I can overcome any difficulties and realize my dreams.

(1) Philosophy have made me realized to be grateful with the stuff that is given in my life. I shouldn't blame other people for what I have achieved but rather, expand and improve myself to become a better person.

(2) I found out that when it comes to achieving my goals or things that I wished to get, it has to be done slowly and steady. It is very ineffective to rush things as it will just make myself stressful. I shouldn't expect to get it very quick but rather just plan to get them at some point, so my mind does not only focus on achieving that one certain item or goal. It is fine as long as you don't give up from that goal.

"It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop" - Confucius.

1)"Philosophy serves as the intellectualization of human experiences, offering diverse perspectives on how to navigate life's challenges. Each day presents us with a myriad of experiences, and philosophy equips us with the tools to interpret and respond to them from different angles, and I think how this's I experience my existence

2)One of my favorite quotes, by Albert Camus, encapsulates this sentiment: "The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion." This quote resonates with me as a guiding principle for confronting daily disappointments.

In essence, Camus suggests that genuine freedom transcends external constraints; it is an internal state of defiance against adversity. When applied to everyday setbacks, this quote encourages us to cultivate inner resilience and autonomy. Rather than allowing disappointments to dictate our actions, we are empowered to rebel against despair and reclaim agency over our lives.

(1) Based on your experience, how did you apply philosophy in your daily life?

Answer: Based on my personal experience, I applied philosophy in my life whenever it came to take up new roles, either in my academic life or my personal life. I make sure to reflect on my core values and always be attentive during the transition. Furthermore, I apply the knowledge I gained from other people’s experiences during the same role and taking decisions based on ethical principles will also count. I try to put in all my efforts in embracing uncertainty, adapting the unknowns of the role. Most importantly, I would like to find the main purpose of the respective role in my daily life. Briefly summarizing the use of philosophy in my daily life, I would like to conclude my answer with the implementation of the principle of critical thinking and problem solving as that is the most significant factor to tackle the challenges which come with the new roles.

(2) Choose a quote from any philosopher and relate the quote to your own life

Answer: "Know thyself" by Socrates, it helps me understand myself, my strengths, my weaknesses and my core values. This self-awareness helps me in decision-making, relationships, personal growth, and stress management. This leads me to live a more fulfilling life with wisdom.

Applying Philosophy in Daily Life: Applying philosophy in daily life involves using critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and reflective practices to navigate everyday situations. For example, I often employ the principles of Stoicism to maintain calmness and rationality during stressful times. By focusing on what I can control and accepting what I cannot, I manage my responses and emotions more effectively. Additionally, I use the Socratic method to question assumptions and beliefs, fostering continuous learning and self-improvement. This approach helps in making more informed decisions and developing a deeper understanding of various perspectives.

Relating a Philosophical Quote to My Life: One quote that resonates with me is by Marcus Aurelius, a Stoic philosopher: "The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts." This quote emphasizes the importance of maintaining a positive and constructive mindset. In my own life, I strive to cultivate a mindset that focuses on gratitude, learning, and growth. By being mindful of my thoughts and actively steering them towards positivity, I find that I am better equipped to handle challenges, maintain healthy relationships, and pursue my goals with determination and optimism. This practice of mindful thinking significantly impacts my overall well-being and productivity.
