ZipGrade is an app which can be used to make grading easier, faster, and to get immediate feedback on student's performance. It works by turning your device's camera as a scanner. The students answer their tests on an answer sheet designed by ZipGrade. Then, the teacher scans the answer sheet and it is graded automatically. Theapp then compiles data on which exercises had a higher response rate, which were the rates of the alternatives chosen, among other features. ZipGrade is available for Android and iOS devices and it is free to try but requires a fee to use indefinitely.

Post by Vivian

One of the drawbacks to using Microsoft Office in the classroom is the differing version types (which makes teaching the students how to use the apps and troubleshooting their errors more difficult) and the price tag associated with a personal copy of Office for PC. Microsoft, however, has released an online version of its most popular apps (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, and Sway) which can be launched from any web browser, on any computer-including PC, Mac, Linux, and ChromeOS devices. Office Online keeps only the basic functions of its parent software, which includes the most commonly used features in educational settings. This online suite is completely free and also provides cloud storage, collaboration abilities, and integrated real-time chatting through Skype.

Post by Vivian

The website Edutopia held a contest a few years ago which required teachers to submit their best technology integration lesson plan. They have selected the best plans, which can be found on the link below. These plans offer great ideas on how to use multiple technologies together in the interest of a learning goal. The plans included vary in subject matter and grade level, so any teacher could benefit from seeing how these technologies come together to create a meaningful learning experience where the centerpiece is learning itself.

Post by Vivian
