Its interesting to look at it from her point because she is headstrong and a bit childish. The childish side helps guide through rough times but her headstrong side can put her in a bad situation. For example, I let out a breath of disgust. Mothers head snapped towards me. The soldier grabbed me and looked me up and down and grinned. He reached down and groped my breasts." But even with these frightening moments, she has worked to keep on living through the torture. One reason was her urge to meet her father once more. But after his death, her reason to go on was her brother and willingness to stop 'Us'. In the epilogue, a letter from the future Lina states "..Evil will rule until good men or women act. I believe him. This testimony was written to create an absolute record, to speak in a world where our voices have been extinguished.
