Introduction of Youth In Mission

A week ago, my friends and I did Youth in Mission. It's held from September 18 until September 22. It is a school program where the students serve one and the others around them or people that live far away from them. I did the Personal Mission which I only served people around me. I was in a team with my close friend and some of my friends from other classes. We served people around us at 2 orphanages and 1 church. One of the orphanages is located in Tebet, South Jakarta. And the other one is located in Kalideres, West Jakarta. The church is located in Cibubur, East Jakarta. The places are separated.

Firstly, we went to two different places on the same day. Because of the places , me and my teammates went through a hard time dealing with time management. We went to Panti Asuhan Kasih Anugerah, which is located at Kalideres, West Jakarta. We arrived there kind of late in the morning. We did an exercise with the orphanage kids. After the exercise, we played some fun games. And the other days, we just played more fun games with them and ate together. It was fun. And on the last day we came there, we gave them some goodie bags for their little treat from us.

Next we went to GRII church in Cibubur, East Jakarta. We went there using the LRT, public train transport. Because we're using public transportation, we arrived there really late. But thankfully the staff there is really kind. We served the church by helping the administration. Because on normal days the churches are closed, we don't participate in any worship. So we helped them by registering the stuff at the warehouse. Is the stuff still can be used or not, and is it broken or still good. We spent 2 hours registering the stuff every day. But some of my teammates sometimes don't take the task seriously. But so far the tasks have finished well.

Lastly, the Tebet Orphanage that is located in West Jakarta. We came there at the weekend and spent like 4 or 5 hours there. Honestly, the kids over there are kind of annoying and naughty. Some of them are hard to tell and rebel. We really need to be patient with them. We gave them a few fun games to keep them entertained. Also, we taught them some English and math lessons. The range of their age is around 4-16 years old. So me and my friends categorised them by their ages while teaching them. We also ate pizza together. And the last day we came there, we bought them some gifts like toys and useful stuff for them. The experiences are also really fun.

The Personal Mission that was held in a week was fun. Even though the experiences were not fully fun, we went through it and handled it well. So many things I can learn from these experiences. I learn to be more communicative with my teammates and arrive on time by having good time management. I also learn to be more patient while facing people such as kids at the orphanage and even my own teammates. I feel so thankful to see my life by seeing them. I want to keep helping them by coming to their orphanage in my free time.
