School 2 Enl teachers organized a literacy pj party for grades 1-6 including families. Pizza, games and snacks were provided.

Parent Square is one of the best communication tools- all families can benefit from the ease of communication- especially the translation ability.

Title 1 - AIS support enables us to offer reading services to our striving learners to close achievement gaps for all learners.

Title 2 - Instructional Coaches in each building work with teachers to expand best practices and improve student learning and outcomes

Title 3 - Propio offers us the opportunity to regularly communicate with all parents

Title 4 - Cohorts of teachers were trained in Responsive Classroom, then provided turn key training for colleagues in the building.

School 5 has benefited from the funding to provide reading and math support. The title 3 money supports popsicles on the playground and books, ENL summer school, field trip support, transportation to the Hispanic brotherhood, and the Thanksgiving feast. Ipads were purchased for two students to use for translation, and many educators use Propio with families. We are very happy to have dedicated and effective AIS providers paid for via Title 1 funding.

ENL students have benefited from the field trips as well as opportunities to prepare students for the transition to the middle school and to the high school. ENL families have benefited from multiple parent workshops and opportunities to access. School resources and personnel outside of the regular school day.

School 2 and PTA involvement

Better communication to include more families in PTA. How do we personalize and reach out better to families. Maybe have a parent to help those people who can translate. Continue to provide English and Spanish notices.

School 5 - Mrs. Mastrande, Mrs. Kamlet, Mrs. Grote, Mrs. Keegan, Ms. Jannotte

School 5 has a PTA ENL parent liaison that helps communicate with and connect parents to the PTA. All PTA and sixth grade PTA parent communications are translated for all parents. Responsive Classroom was brought to Representatives and workshops were brought to all via faculty meetings and after school sessions. Times that family events have been held are held flexibly and options are given for all to make them family friendly. Younger siblings are welcome at events to encourage participation.

Title 1 - We've been able to identify students with academic intervention needs and provide targeted instruction. We've been given professional texts such as UFLI, Jump Rope Readers, Benchmark Readers and Geodes to support this work. We've also had extensive training with Dr. Chris Parker to support our work at each building providing targeted instructional based on data analysis.

Title 2 - Building based instructional coaching / technology coach. Teachers utilize coaches for a multitude of reasons to reflect, improve or enhance student outcomes.

Title 3 - Propio is a resource teachers use to communicate with families.

Title 4 - Responsive classroom approaches were turnkeyed to teachers to use in their classroom. Professional texts have been studied and analyzed for different purposes throughout the year.

Strategies we use:

All parent correspondence is in dual language. Parent Square communication from the principal is sent on a weekly basis as well as communication with teachers. Parent Conferences are held once a year and teachers meet on an as needed basis throughout the year. Back to School night offers parents an opportunity to meet the teachers and to be provided with an overview of AIS services.

Suggestion:

Some of the ENL Ambassadors could visit the Elementary schools and the ELC to make connections with our younger ELL learners
