When I did something good or something worthy of praise, my parents complimented and supported me. When I was in middle school, my parents used to eat delicious dinner with me when I got good grades at school. My parents used to compliment me while having a delicious dinner with my family.
My parents gave me generous support for what I like.
For example, I like soccer. If I did well in school, my parents bought me new soccer shoes. On the contrary, my parents were cold-hearted when they were punished. My parents didn't hit me or punish me. My parents gave me time to think about what I did wrong in the first place.
After realizing what I did fundamentally wrong, my parents consulted with me. I spent a lot of time explaining to my parents the fundamental mistake I thought.
I think my parents gave me this time so that I don't repeat the same mistake again.

My father and mother are both Buddhists. When I was young, I went to a temple in the mountains a lot. But I didn't think much about having religion as I grew up. Neither did my parents force me to have a religion. My friends around me have various religions such as Christianity, Catholicism, and Buddhism. I could learn about various religions through school classes and friends. But I still don't have a religion. Since I am a student studying science, I am still focusing on studying and exploring realistic things.

Respect for adults is much stricter in Asian cultures than in Western cultures.
In Korea, there are honorifics for adults and manners that apply only to adults.
That's why my parents have taught me manners about adults since I was young. My parents wanted me to be polite to adults outside, and they taught me.
I was impolite behavior to an adult in childhood, parents scolded me and tell me what you make the right to do to me.
So I have been trying to be polite to adults since I was young and I am still trying.
I feel very grateful for learning these manners from my parents.
