I think this type of separation exists today in different forms. The socs would be the richer people, the ones who dress more mainstream and fit within the gender binary, heterosexual, etc. The greasers would be the weird kids, not all poor but mainly just middle class. I think if there were socs and greasers the socs would be people who are more wealthy, and dress more main stream, they would also probably part of the majority instead of a minority so white, straight, cis, ect. greasers would be people who are part of the minority, less wealthy, and dress differently.

The Socs recieve higher income, live in larger homes, drive nice cars, and get good education. The Greasers have low income, usually rusted bad condition cars, old houses, and not as nice clothing as the Socs wear. The Greasers mainly depend on their friends since they've always had each others backs in bad situations and were there to comfort each other when different characters were having trouble with their families falling apart.

I believe that separation still exist between teens to this day due to different interests, sexualities, and the different ways everyone acts and dresses. Usually people will look and someone by their image and already have thoughts/opinions about that person.
