 Aung San Suu Kyi is a leader of Myanmar’s National League for democracy party. Aung san suu kyi name is made up of three family members. Kyi is the name of her mother, Aung san is from her father and Suu came from her grandmother’s name. On september 19 , 2012 - Aung San Suu Kyi accepts the Congressional Gold Medal in Washington, DC. 

In the United States, she was awarded with Presidential Medal of Freedom She later meets with US president Barack Obama. As a result of her peaceful protests she was awarded “The Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought in 1990 and the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991”. Aung San Suu Kyi was also awarded the “Congressional Gold Medal”. 
 It March 2016 Suu Kyi's adviser Htin Kyaw was selected for the post, and the following month Suu Kyi was named the state counselor, a position above the presidency that allows her to direct the country's affair. This person changed their nation in relation to human rights by leading them to a brighter future and lead to a political party. 

If this person was never born there would not be a leader and lead a political party. This person should be honored because of the accomplishments and leading they did to serve their country. We also think that this person should be honor because she took a big roll as the state counselor, she also followed her dad's footsteps as a leader. The kids in Newark could benefit learning about this person because if any kids from Newark would like to be part of the counsel, The kids could learn from her and she could be a idol for kids.
