         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>The Scientific Method is a set of rules that scientists use to find out about the natural world through a step by step process.&nbsp; In addition, questions can be answered and theories can be supported ( or not). It helps us get accurate results since everyone follows the same rules.&nbsp;<br>It includes Observation, Hypothesis, Prediction, Experiment,  and  the Conclusion . It helps to have analysis of data along with the experiment. </div>]]></description>

         <title>How I used the Scientific Method</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>I used the scientific method years ago when I did an experiment to find out whether raising the temperature of the solvent would help dissolve the solute faster. I followed these steps: Observation (and initial research), Hypothesis, Prediction, Experiment (including analysis of data), and the Conclusion.   First, I read about solutes and solutions as well as the scientific method. Then I wrote a hypothesis that stated : "Raising the temperature of the solvent will make the solute dissolve faster". Next I wrote a prediction - "The molecular  bonds holding the  solute together will weaken at a higher temperature."   I then did the experiment . I put an alkaseltzer tablet in distilled water at room temperature.  I used a stopwatch to record the length of time it took to dissolve. The measurement was in minutes and seconds.  I did the same with water that was heated to 110 degrees .  I also did the same with water that was cooled  to 50 degrees. I did three trials of each .  I used the same amount of water each trial. I recorded the data. My analysis of the data showed that the higher the temperature, the faster the solute dissolved. My conclusion was that the water molecules moved faster in the warmer water, so the solute dissolved faster. I made an inference that the solvent can break the molecule bonds of the solute better at a high temperature.  I made a graph of my data.  </div>]]></description>
