When I was on Erasmus in Spain I was joined by a very kind tutor who still remains my favorite tutor. The first day of the internship I was very agitated because in addition to being in a new hospital I was in a place where I did not speak the language very well. When I arrived in the department, however, I calmed down because my tutor was a young girl (she was 28) who immediately proved to be very kind and patient with me. In the following days when I did not understand something due to the language she explained it to me again speaking more slowly and in simpler terms, she was always smiling and allowed me to do things independently (for example therapy, subcutaneous punctures, etc.). Having a few years older than me, we also entered into confidence, during the breaks we talked a lot, she recommended restaurants to eat and places to visit, I told her about my life in Rome, about my hobbies, about my friends. When we said goodbye on the last day of the internship I was very sad, because in addition to being a good tutor she had also become my friend.

We are in the orthopedics department of the Bambin Gesù hospital. There are 21 patients, 2 doctors and 3 nurses, so each nurse follows 7 patients. There are many young patients with brocken legs, arms or feet. All patients are minors, so there is always mum or dad with them. The parents are always worried because their children have to have surgery to heal. In particular, there is a mother (her name is Alessia) who is much more worried than the others. His son is Marco, he is 8 years old, he was hospitalized because he broke his leg while running. Mom is worried because she is afraid of the surgery that her son will have to do:

Nurse: Good morning Marco, how are you? Are you ready for the surgery?

Marco: Yes, I'm ready.

Nurse: Good morning Alessia, how are you? I brought you some wipes with wich Marco has to wash before having the surgery.

Alessia: Good morning, I'm worried about the surgery that Marco will have to do.

Nurse: Why?

Alessia: Because I'm afraid of anesthesia and I'm afraid that surgery will not solve my son's problem.

Nurse: Don't worry, the doctors who will do the surgery are very good, they have done a lot of surgery, so they are very prepared. The surgery will be fine!

Alessia: Thank you so much, I feel better.

Write an essay about why you would (or would not) like to be a clinical tutor in future. (100 words)

When I started studying nursing and doing an internship I never imagined myself as a future tutor because being a nurse is a difficult job that requires a lot of concentration, often while working you don't even have time to take a break and therefore I always have thought following a student would be too difficult. Instead, now that I am in the third year of university I think that being a tutor is very nice because in this way you transmit your passion to a student, teach him the procedures and explain everything there is to know about the department. Also, having had the internship experience, I can understand how students feel when they are in a new department and therefore I would like to help them and make them feel comfortable.
