NOMINATION:  
Ana Paola is an example of women empowering in engineering areas, She's a model to follow among her classmates because, petroleum engineering is a difficult field to open new paths for women and she's a multitask and the president of SPE Chapter in Petroleum Engineering Program in Faculty of Chemical Sciences in Poza Rica, Veracruz.Also, she did an excellent performance during the virtual collaboration.

PROJECT:  
Students worked in international teams, for knowing about their cultures and interchange ideas about global problems.

NOMINATION:  
He is an excellent Mexican student, from a rural community and he is very interesting on COIL projects.

Alan Emilio has shown a lot of interest and tenacity in his participation, he has also supported the course since he is always collaborates.

The Entrepreneurial Mindset 
(TEM 100)

Business Idea COIL Collaboration with University of Hawaii at Hilo, USA, Kansai University, Japan and San Pedro College Philippines. 

The team develop a unique approach through COIL on business ideas that would influence the market and save the world from environmental pollution as inspired in Sustainable Development Goals 11. 

The COIL engagement was also documented and used Immerse U platform that becomes their vehicle for learning and engagement with international peers.

The COIL collaboration we have unleashed the best experiences of COIL within the three Universities involved through problem based learning approach adapted in COIL experiences with the students.

Hannah will inspire young COILers and students on how they change their mindset and unleash the true spirit of friendship, collaboration and teamwork among the COIL Team.

She is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science Program in Medical Laboratory Sciences.

Students collaborated on a STEM project with UNISON in Mexico to create a web site and database to track asteroids and their statistical properties.

Dan has been very proactive in standing out at embracing COIL. He always gives his personal testimony on the impact on COIL in his learning. In addition, he has stated he came from Venezuela when he was younger and loves to speaking Spanish to his Mexican teammates.

Education Systems in USA and Dominican Republic / Oakland Community College - UNIBE. In this project students from OCC and from Unibe shared in 2 sessions how the education system is structured in our countries. Students were divided in mixed groups where they were able to dialogue and ask each other questions to then explore answers together and present their conclusion to the whole group.

NOMINATION REMARKS: 

María José participated enthusiastically in both synchronous sessions. She explained how this experience has helped her broaden her vision about education in the United States. As her teacher, I think she will be able to explain how this experience changed her mind and how it influenced her current practice.

PROJECT >  Introducción a la Vida Profesional

OBJETIVOS DE APRENDIZAJE Al final del curso y mediante el uso de tecnologías compartidas: Podrás comprender, comunicarte y trabajar con pares de diversas culturas compartiendo perspectivas académicas y laborales. Conocerás aspectos laborales y sociológicos de otras culturas, lo que abrirá perspectivas que van más allá de tu entorno actual. Aprenderás una forma de colaborar en el aprendizaje internacional en línea, mediante la participación en tareas compartidas en una plataforma colaborativa. Además trabajaras con el análisis de un caso, en el cual deberán tomar decisiones como equipo, donde integres tus valores culturales y el análisis ético y de equidad de género.

NOMINATION REMARKS > La alumna Kiela ha sido una estudiante muy activa y en este semestre estará participando en su tercer experiencia de Global Classroom. Así mismo, es una alumna que ha tenido la oportunidad de interactuar con diversas culturas ya que también ha estado de intercambio en algunos semestres de su carrera.

Kiela es estudiante de la carrera en Negocios Internacionales en la modalidad bicultural. Considero que es una buena candidata para compartir la experiencia del Global Claddroom por la experiencia capitalizada.

Geopolitics and Technological Changes

Five week collaboration with Wilfrid Laurier University on the topic of refugees focusing on Central and North American region. Inviting speakers from International Organisations as well as shelter, the students got to know their experiences and then in a collaborative manner reflect on the week's topics.

NOMINATION REMARKS:
Courtney has been very instrumental in success of the coil at Valencia college. She has worked on the website to track asteroids and where they go in the solar system along with their statistical properties. Courtney always shows a willingness to participate in cultural activities and goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is comfortable on the collaboration team between Valencia college and unison Mexico. As an example Courtney manages to speak Spanish during the project in order to communicate ideas and exchange information.

The project ran multiple semesters. Ulster managed to secure funding for the cohort of the first iteration (Spring 2015) to visit their peers in Mexico City.

Nomination Remarks:
Joan has a rock solid work ethic and perseverance. She keeps going!! She is open to evolving her designs. A great perspective on people globally. She not only participated in a COIL collaboration with me, she also participated with COIL in a Marketing class with Dr. Mindy Kole. 

Joan has a genuine love of learning about other cultures.  She is a people person and a leader. She doesn't waste time. 

As an undergraduate student studying Nutrition and Food Sciences and minoring in Spanish, Viviana Mendoza is able to interact with student from Universitat Rovira i Virgili from all walks of life and discipline areas. She has a unique perspective as she had studied abroad in Costa Rica a few semesters back, but due to COVID her experience was interrupted. This opportunity to connect with Spanish students has continued to nurture her eagerness to learn about other cultures and further develop her cross-cultural competence, while staying connected globally without leaving California.
