When Jack broke off from the group to form one of his own, it shows him leaving civilization and entering into savagery. The other boys joined Jack and they become hunters, slaughtering a pig and eventually being joined by Ralph and Piggy and partaking in a tribal dance. In the process of the boys leaving the area of the island that kept them civilized, they became savages and lost their identity. 2) Coming across the dead parachutist surprises Simon, he comes back down the mountain, eager to tell his friends the truth about the beastie. Jack declares that whenever they kill, they would leave some for the Beast so it won't bother them.
