All the characters have a dream but it's something that's holding them back. "Big Walter used to say, he'd get right wet in the eyes sometimes, lean his head back with the water standing in his eyes and say 'Seem like God didn't see fit to give the black man nothing but dreams- but He did give us children to make them dreams seem worth while" (Hansberry). This quote relates to the theme because mama just wants her family to be able to chase their dreams. All her children wants to do something with their lives but the lack of money does nothing for them. But a dream is a dream and you can always have hope in that dream. That one day it will succeed and follow through. Her kids are having kids and overall she just wants everyone to live a good life.
