What - A decisive battle in the loss of England, caused them to surrender Yorktown. It was also the last major battle of the Revolutionary War.

Where - Yorktown, Virginia
Why - The English and the Colonists were at war because the colonists wanted to separate from England. The overall war is the Revolutionary War.

This deception added for a much easier takeover. This was a key battle and if they had not won, the war would have been a lot different. There were around 400 people killed on each side combined, and around 8,000 British soldiers captured. George did pretty much everything. He was an American general. After winning the Revolutionary War, he went on to become the first president of the United States, he was also the only president ever unanimously chosen. He died on December, 14, 1799. He died because he went outside in the freezing cold while it was raining and snowing, he went inside with his clothes still wet and went to bed. He then woke up with a sore throat, he didn't think anything about it so he went out in the cold again. When he got home he went back to sleep and woke up in the middle of the night barely able to breathe. Until I researched about this battle I had no idea they were even a part of the war. In the Siege of Yorktown, the French had 5,500 soldiers in the battle. 8. Spain wanted to capture Gibraltar, they failed
9. France's debt was largely increased from this war
10. The Treaty of Paris caused England to respect us as our own country
