In the text Beowulf The main warrior Beowulf is on a mission to fight the beast Grendal. Because no one else wants to and they're all scared. After Beowulf had a hard fought battle with the beast Grendal he slayed it. Then it´s mother came from the sea and wanted revenge.

While both of the books, the original passage and the graphic novel both show us well how Beowulf slays Grendals mother(swamp thing from hell). The graphic novel shows it better because we can see how Beowulf was not on top the whole time and we see that Grendals mother was beating Beowulf until he got to his feet and slayed the beast. When the original passage is just telling us how he defeated the beast

The son of Ecgtheow would have have surely perished and the geats lost their warrior under the wide earth had the strong links and locks of his war-gear not helped to save him: holy God decided the victory. It was easy for the Lord, the Ruler of heaven, to redress the balance once Beowulf got back up on his feet.¨

The conflict of the story is filled with a bunch of epic battling. After the fight between Beowulf and Grendal Beowulf had a victory and had won. Then shortly after the beast came from the sea to seek revenge on her only child. S when Beowulf was fighting her his sword could not penetrate her skin but he found a different sword that he used to help win the battle. So he didn't have to keep using only his hands.

I feel like the graphic novel did a better job wrapping up the resolution because you can really see what is going on and how Beowulf dies and how Wilgaf takes his helmet. I feel like that expresses so much more to a reader than just the words as the original passage shows.
