Sisters are another important part of “Cinder”. Because of Letumosis, or the blue fever, many people die, including Cinder’s step-sister Peony. Cinder and Peony were very close, so when she dies, Cinder is heart-broken. Also because of Peony’s death, Cinder’s guardian, Adri, forces her to be a test subject for Letumosis. Since Cinder is a cyborg, she can join the draft for cyborgs willing to be tested on. Almost all of the cyborgs experimented on died. Peony’s death led to Cinder learning a lot about herself when she gets tested on.
The author states, “She wanted to tell Adri that no fancy plaque would bring Peony back,”

At the start of the journey they used horses and ponies to travel until they met the goblins. After walking, they borrowed horses and ponies from the bear man. They returned them and went through the forest on foot. After that they got horses and ponies from the lake men. They used those animals to get to the mountain. If they didn’t have the horses or the ponies, it would’ve taken them much longer to get to their destination. And if they traveled on foot they probably wouldn’t have even made it there. “Here they were joined by the horses with other provisions and necessaries and the ponies for their own use that had been sent to meet them. They packed what they could on the ponies and the rest was made into a store under a tent, but none of the men of the town would stay with them even for the night so near the shadow of the Mountain.”
