         <description><![CDATA[<div>Elder Abuse Prevention- Could be seen in the form of physical, sexual, emotional, financial abuse or neglect<br><br><strong>Elder abuse is common.</strong> Abuse, including neglect and exploitation, is experienced by about 1 in 10 people aged 60 and older who live at home (CDC, <em>Injury center</em> 2021).<br><br></div><div><strong>Some groups have higher rates of abuse than others.</strong> Compared with women, men had higher rates of both nonfatal assaults and homicides. Compared to non-Hispanic Whites, non-Hispanic Black or African American persons, non-Hispanic American Indian/Alaskan Natives, and Hispanic or Latino persons have higher homicide rates (CDC, <em>Injury center</em> 2021).<br><br></div><div><br><br><br><br>Intimate Partner Violence Prevention- Very common-Abuse or aggression that occurs in a romantic relationship.&nbsp;<br><br></div><ul><li><strong>Physical violence</strong> is when a person hurts or tries to hurt a partner by hitting, kicking, or using another type of physical force.</li><li><strong>Sexual violence</strong> is forcing or attempting to force a partner to take part in a sex act, sexual touching, or a non-physical sexual event (e.g., sexting) when the partner does not or cannot consent.</li><li><strong>Stalking</strong> is a pattern of repeated, unwanted attention and contact by a partner that causes fear or concern for one’s own safety or the safety of someone close to the victim.</li><li><strong>Psychological aggression</strong> is the use of verbal and non-verbal communication with the intent to harm another partner mentally or emotionally and/or to exert control over another partner.</li></ul><div><br><br></div><ul><li>About 1 in 4 women and nearly 1 in 10 men have experienced contact sexual violence, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner during their lifetime and reported some form of IPV-related impact (CDC, <em>Preventing intimate partner violence |violence prevention|injury Center|CDC</em> 2021)</li></ul><div><br>Ways to prevent:<br>-Teach safe and healthy relationship skills at a young age<br>-Engage influencial adults and peers<br>-Create Protective Enviorments where people can come to talk<br>-Strengthen Economic Support for Families&nbsp;<br>-Support Survivors so that they do not feel they need to return to these conditions </div><div><br><br><br><br>Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
