The character that is most responsible for Ophelia going insane is Hamlet. Hamlet is the reason for Ophelia going insane because Hamlet slept with Ophelia according to Ophelia on Pg. when she says "He let in the girl, and when she left She wasn't a virgin anymore", And after Hamlet slept with Ophelia he then went on to kill her father. Which is just completely messed with Ophelia's emotions and made her go insane.

The person I think is most responsible for Ophelia going insane is her father because he was always trying to tell her what to do with her relationship with Hamlet and she didn't go insane until Polonuis died. With these factors she didn't know what to think without his guidance and became insane because her mind is a mess from all the things that happened in the last 30 days. An instance when he tries to control her and interfere with Hamlet. Polonuis is talking to Ophelia about Hamlet and her relationship. "A good thing he did, by god. I've heard Hamlet's been spending a lot of time alone with you recently, and you've made yourself quite available to him. If things are the way people tell me they are-and say, you're not conducting yourself with self-restraint a daughter of mine should show."(1.3.90-97) This shows that Polonuis had a lot of influence and pressure on her behavior. He is trying to stop them from making a better bond. Others may say that Hamlet is responsible because he toyed with her but I would disagree because Hamlet didn't Already break her heart and if she were to go insane it would be after that but she didn't go insane until after news of her fathers death.

I believe hamlet is responsible for ophelia insanity. 1. Hamlet killed ophelia father and that right there can make anybody insane because she loved hamlet and her loving someone that killed her father can be making her question herself. 2. Hamlet took Ophelia virginity and then just left basically and like stop talking to her she was so In love with hamlet and to see him leave after taking her virginity she can think many things about why he did leave.

Because Hamlet slept with her as she mentioned while she was singing "He let in the girl when she left She wasn't a virgin anymore." And later on, she finds out he killed her father.

I believe Hamlet is the reason Ophelia has become insane. I believe this because Ophelia seemed like she was sane and was doing pretty good until Hamlet started coming around. It started with Hamlet coming into her room while looking terrible, not saying a word, staring at her, and then leaving. 2.1.80 “… Hamlet came in with no hat on his head, his shirt unbuttoned, and his stockings dirty, undone, and done around his ankles. He was pale as his undershirt, and his knees were knocking together.” I think this spooked Ophelia a bit because she was confused and a little worried too. On top of that Hamlet also killed her father which can’t be easy for her to cope with. After killing her father Hamlet was acting crazy talking about her father. 4.2.6 “I’ve gotten it dirty—ashes to ashes, dust to dust.” 4.2.25 “The body’s with the king, but the king’s not with the body. The king’s a thing…”

I believe the character that the character most responsible for Ophelia going insane is Hamlet because Hamlet himself killed her dad Polonius. This made her so sad and her mental state started to deteriorate, she no longer had a dad and a mentor to guide her through her life. My second reason is that Hamlet stopped "loving" her, after he took her virginity and just stopped having any interactions with her. Ophelia thought she had a special relationship with Hamlet because of everything they went through together, and now for Hamlet to just leave her like that and also Hamlet saying they weren't anything "Special", would do her a lot of emotional damage. Hamlet said (3.1.11) "I used to love you"

Polonius is responsible for Ophelia going insane. He confused her mind telling her not to fall in love with Hamlet, even though he was madly in love with her. (1.2.115-135) Ophelia obeys what Polonius says. Polonius also tells her to cut off all contact with Hamlet, that he is faking his love for her, and that she should listen to him because he is always right. The reason why these prove Polonius is at fault is that he contorted her thoughts and forced her to follow a heart that wasn't hers. She didn't know if she should listen to her father or if she should go with what she believed. Some have said that is also Hamlet's fault for causing Ophelia's insanity for the way he switched his feeling for her so fast. He went from writing her letters, spending all his free time with her, and showing her affection, to saying he doesn't love her. That could've caused a mental break. Then Hamlet proceeds to murder Polonius, Ophelia's father. Now Ophelia no longer has Hamlet nor her Father.

I believe that Hamlet is the responsible one for Ophelia going insane because before Hamlet Ophelia was just living her life with no worries, but as soon as Hamlet came into her life many things started to go wrong. When Hamlet came into ophelia's life she grew this love towards him and she knew she could not feel like this towards him ,because of what others might say.And as Hamlet grew love for her too things started to get complicated, their love could not be public and he just didn’t care about that but ophelia did.Ophelia started to worry that loving him would become a bigger problem when her dad started to advice her to not give Hamlet any more of her attention, and the result of that was the opposite and Hamlet would look for her more often instead of leaving her alone. Then when Hamlet kills Ophelia's dad Polonius this drives her insane because she is stuck in the middle of a hard situation where the love of her life Hamlet just killed her father whom she loved a lot.She did not know if to protect Hamlet for when the consequences would come or hate him and never talk to him again.Hamlet made Ophelia a different person from who she once was and drove her into the state she is in now.She has to make many hard decisions for herself and knowing that the result might not be the best ,like if I do this then this could happen but a lot is happening around her and she does not know how to balance it all.

I believe Hamlet is the reason Ophelia has become insane because before she encountered Hamlet, she was neutral. Once Ophelia meets Hamlet, she starts to develop feelings for him. She feels wrong for liking him since she worries about how others would say. Hamlet also starts to like her, they got into a relationship which was confusing and complicated for her. Then he confesses and said, "You shouldn't have believed me, since we're all rotten at the core, no matter how hard we try to be virtuous. I didn't love you." (3.1 19-20). Then he continues to insult her which causes her to have a mental breakdown. Another reason why Hamlet is the reason that Ophelia is insane is because he killed Polonius which was her father. After killing Polonius, it drove Ophelia to go more insane.
