         <description><![CDATA[<div>Hello everyone! My name is Gabriela Martinez-Vizcaino, and I was born in Miami, Florida, to Cuban parents in<br>2002. I have lived in Miami my entire life, but I have been fortunate enough to travel around the nation and world with my family.<br>Although I am Cuban, my favorite food would have to be Asian food. I love ramen, pho, rice vermicelli, dumplings, pad thai, etc. My hobbies are reading and dancing. My favorite genre to read is fantasy and my favorite book series is Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. I also was the captain of the dance team at my high school.<br><br>I attend the Padron campus and am studying International Relations on a pre-law track. I am most passionate about advocacy and helping others. Since that is my passion, I believe I can use that and make a career aiding others through legislation and legal representation. In the future, I hope to practice civil rights litigation before running for public office.<br>Outside of school. I participate in multiple extracurriculars. For example, I am president of the Pre-Law Society, a co-founder and volunteer for an organization named Rhizome, a volunteer with SAVE LGBT, and a volunteer with The Cat Network.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>When relating to the news there may be misinformation spreading and it is very important to use critical thinking skills to make sure the news we are consuming is as correct and unbiased as possible. Using the "Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning framework" is a way for individuals to think critically about the news they are consuming. When a news outlet states a claim, there must be evidence to support the claim, one can do their own investigation to find evidence to support the claim made by the news source. One can find evidence on through factual, peer-reviewed, and unbiased sources.&nbsp; Once the evidence is found to support the claim, one would begin the reasoning aspect of the CER framework, which is where one will understand why or how the evidence found supports the news source's claim. By using this framework, individuals can ensure they are consuming correct information from news sources that are fact-checked, based on evidence, and unbiased.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>After watching the Digital Story: Common Cold Lesson Done by: Loteisha Lattibeaudiere I now understand what it means when someone says, "I have a cold." "Having a cold" really means that there is a foreign entity in the body that is causing symptoms like a runny nose, sneezing, chills, or cough. "Having a cold" refers to the symptoms one is experiencing. The foreign entity in the body is a virus called rhinovirus and it reproduces in the cell lining of the nose.          <description><![CDATA[<div>The Red Panda lives in high-altitude temperate forests. These forests have bamboo understories and can be found in the Eastern Himalayas and other high large mountains. The Red Pandas' habitat ranges from northern Myanmar to the west Sichuan and Yunnan Provinces of China, or Nepal, India, and Tibet. The temperatures of these habitats range from 10 - 25 degrees celsius and the elevation ranges from 6,000-12,000 feet. Because of the bamboo understories of its habitat, the Red Panda eats the bamboo leaves and the tender shoots. Most of their time is spent in trees and due to their semi-retractable claws, they are able to climb easily.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Something that caught my attention in the video was that when flowers die, they create a stable mass of organic matter called humus that goes back into the ground and allows new flowers to grow. Humus provides moisture and nutrients.&nbsp; It caught my attention because the name was similar to the food and I thought that was quite funny.          <description><![CDATA[<div>What caught my attention in the mini-lecture video is that butterflies are one of the 800,000 insect species that transition from larvae to adults through complete metamorphosis. Since that is such a large number, it accounts for about 85% of insects and 75% of all known animal species. 800,000 insects account for about 85% of insects means that there are more than 800,000 insect species, which is a ginormous amount of insects. I am not particularly fond of insects so that is a somewhat alarming number!</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I chose the Red Panda as my species because they are endangered and it reminded me of a housecat due to its size and build.<br><br>Climate change will affect the Red Panda because as the temperature rises the Red Pandas will have to move to higher elevations. Moving to higher elevations is an issue because most of the food they consume is on the lower side of the habitat.          <title>Evolution of Red Panda</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>My selected species, the Red Panda, is genetically similar to skunks, raccoons, and weasels. They were an ancient carnivore species although they have now evolved to have a primarily plant-based diet.&nbsp; Around 5 million years ago they roamed North America whereas now they are found in the high-altitude forests of Nepal, India, Bhutan, Myanmar, and China. Due to evolution, there are two formally known subspecies of Red Panda; the Himalayan and Chinese Red Panda, which have wider cheekbones and redder faces. These two species genetically diverged from one another around 250,000 years ago partly due to the Yalu Zangbu River creating a physical barrier between the two. Some scientists argue that they are actually two completely different species rather than subspecies due to their distinct genetics. The Red Panda has two extinct relatives known as the Pristinailurus and Parailurus.
