To review the material for culture, Students answer a question. They can start with any number. When they find the right answer on a paper out in the hallway, it will lead to a new question. If they do it correctly each time, they will find the answers to all the questions. If interested, I will share the template. It hurts my brain to make it new everytime.

Close Reading

Once students can work in small groups and do a close reading, they will finally do a full cold read and write a longer response and/or an essay depending on the curricular need

Individual Formatives

At the end of a Day, Week, and unit I give my students formative assignments to complete to gauge their understanding of the unit. This can be through a quiz, a quick sheet with a scale of 1-5 on how much you understand a topic, or just asking students thumbs up thumbs down are we understanding what is going on. On top of these formatives, any kind of reading guide or quick project I do I give students a spot to ask questions on it. I think with this if the students use it they can deepen their own understanding without even knowing.

Digital Interactive Activities

Students complete Drag and Drops, Gizmos and other gamified quizzes to practice the content that they learned. It is a low risk assessment that is generally well accepted.
