1. Marta is angry with Esperanza for being rich. Marta's father died in the Mexican Revolution on the other side. "Before he came to this country he fought in the Mexican Revolution against people like your father." (p. 97)

Theme: Accepting differences. 
The theme I chose is about accepting differences. 

One moment in the book, was when Esperanza and her mother were on the train. They met a little girl who wanted to hold Esperanza's doll. Esperanza's mom did a better job of accepting differences, as when she was on the train, she was kind and generous by making her a doll. She understood that this was their community now. I think it is this theme because when she saw the celestial boy she thought he was brave and cool but when she actually got to meet him she thought he was strange and weird. I think she thought that because his style and his hair but i think that he thinks that about her because she just came to that place and i also think he thinks she is a little spoiled.

theme:ups and downs are a part of life.

1# my evidence is that when maxie  the dog dies that time is a down and then Rinkos dad and grandma go talk to the person who did it and he stop so that is an up.
