         <title>Day #1 Process Journal</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><sup>Tina<br>We break up into teams, our group member is Flora, Cheryl, and Tina. Our group start to discuss the game and already have a brief outline. Our game is similar to Monopoly, players have three choices for the road they want to go. There is NPC trader that player can trade with. Player has to trade with NPC to get money. At last, the player who is richest will win the game. <br>Cheryl<br>Ms. Chelsea tells us that we are going to create our own game in this unit, which will be related to the eighth-grade ELP trip Dunhuang. Students separate into four group themselves. My teammates are Tina and Flora. We discuss and provide a bunch of ideas. Our team decides to create a board game, which shows a journey on the Silk Road, the player can trade goods with others or visit temples.<br>Flora<br>Ms.Chelsea announce that we are going create a game on our gone. I think it’s pretty exciting because I never create a game before, and I always wanted to. Ms.Chelsea said because of the reason that we will travel to Dunhuang in ELP trip, we are going to create a video game about Dunhuang’s culture. We create a group name which is no name/ double N. My groupmates are Tina and Cheryl. We discuss a little about our thoughts about creating the game. We all think we can create a game something like monopoly about the Silk Road. I really like our idea of creating this game, and I think we can create an awesome game.</sup></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Day #2 Process Journal</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Flora<br>Tina is sick today so she didn’t come. Ms.Chelsea give us a instruction sheet for the game design that looks like monopoly. Our task today id to create a rubric for our game. Me and my teammates Cheryl first discuss about how we should write it. We create a temple of we we should do and we change the describing words for them. I think we can get a seven/eight score for our game, we have really creating ideas.<br>Cheryl <br>During this class, Flora and I start to write the rubric for the game we are going to create, which include the writing, process journal, game and research. We only figure out the writing criterion during this class. We firstly make the 7-8 level requirement: We have to have a extremely clear step by step instruction of the game. Storyline and each type of the card (including the characters, events, equipment, places) is explained super clearly. Then we just alleviate the requirement each time as the level goes down.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Tina<br>We finish the rubric on today's class, working on the proposal. On the proposal, we describe our game rules and information and write some concerns we may meet during the making process. <br><br>Flora <br>We check our rubric of the game and then print it stick it on the board. We starting to do our proposal about our game. Our silly teammate didn't come today, we don't need her. My and Tina spilt the work in to half We thought about writing the proposal may need to change in the future. We think we have many creating ideas that we will put in the game.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Tina <br>Today we make comments on others' proposal and give suggestions. Some of our comments says that the game is not creative enough. We are considering to make some changes to the game. <br><br>Cheryl<br>At the beginning of the class, Ms. Chelsea asks us to read other teams' proposals, and we make comments on their proposals. According to the comments from other teams, we found that other people think our game is not creative. I read the proposal from M&amp;M's team, they have a extremely storyline, and that is what we exactly lack of. My teammates and I try to figure out some creative elements that we can put into our game.<br><br>Flora<br>In our class toady, we reflect on other people's idea. I think we all have different creative ideas. We also received a few suggestions form the other group but they all think we are not creative enough. We should change our ideas a little.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Tina&nbsp;<br>today I research about Dunhuang’s food, culture, landscape… We haven’t organize on Padlet yet. I write reflection on Padlet, plan to finish the food section, also finish all the research about culture, landscape.&nbsp;<br><br>Cheryl&nbsp;<br>During this class, I firstly search the map of Silk Road in Dunhuang, which I suppose it will be the board that has stations on it, and players can move toward the destination step by step. The thing I search is the Buddhism. As everyone knows, Silk Road didn't not only spread the goods thousands years ago, but also the ideas and religions. One of it is Buddhism. The religion elements will be added in the game. My idea is that the players can visit temples and complete the missions, this will add them the points.&nbsp;<br>We are still looking for some creative ideas that we may add in our game.<br><br>Flora&nbsp;<br><br>We search more about the Dunhuang Silk Road. It's hard to find information about it, there are not enough information fro us to use.We do need many research to complete this game. We need different stuff to create a simpler game to Monopoly. Monopoly is one of the most popular game now then which if we chose something smilier then our game will be more interesting.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Dunhuang&#39;s food </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. Yellow noodle（驴肉黄豆面）:<br>Yellow noodle is a local food. Made with donkey meat, and noodle made of yellow bean. <br><del><br></del>2.<del> </del>lamb soup noddle（羊肉汤粉）:<br>The lamb soup noodle that is made with high-quality lamb, fresh vegetables and chewy handmade noddles with delicious lamb bone soup. <br><br>3. Huyang dish (胡杨焖饼)：<br><sub>Huyang dish is the combination of the culture from both of Han nationality and minority. There’s also a legend that talking about the Huyang Dish. A long time ago, there’s a family who lives nearby the Ming Sha Mountain in Dunhuang, the husband goes to work every single day and the wife stays at home to do the chores. One day, the wife slammed chicken for making a dish for her husband. She thought that the dish might get cold before her husband comes back so she made a pancake cover on the chicken. After that she wanted the dish taste better, so she makes raw pieces of pancakes to cover the chicken then braised the pancake and chicken together. This is how the Huyang dish created.<br></sub><br>4. Xingpi drink (杏皮水):<br>Using Dunhuang’s special&nbsp; Apricot’s skin and boiled with sugar. Xingpi drink tastes cold and refreshing which is one of the most common drink in summer.<br><br>5. rice noodle （拉条子):<br>The rice noodles are one of the popular traditional dishes in Dunhuang. The way to make the rice noodles is just pulling the doughs with hands until it becomes noodles.<br><br>6. Oil bread (泡儿油糕):<br>Oil bread was famous because of the golden color and the "bobbles" on the surface. is a friend food, but compared to other fried food is healthier. That's made of fresh plants.&nbsp;<br><br>7. Dunhuang Vegetable noodle(浆水面):<br>Dunhuang Vegetable noodle is one of the eight strange things, the soup of the noodle have the taste of sour, spicy and fragrance. The most famous things in the noodle are Mustard.&nbsp;<br><br>8. dried bread (风干馍馍)：<br>In the summer of Dunhuang is very hot, food will dry quickly. Dunhuang people break the fresh steamed bread into two pieces and put it under the sun, the bread will dry quickly in a few hours. People eat the dried bread, it tastes crispy and delicious.&nbsp;<br><br>9. Luobo tea(罗布茶)<br>Luobo tea is a local tea in Dunhuang that was loved by different ages of people. It tastes super fresh and helps people to be calmer.<br><br>10. Dunhuang noodle(哨子面)&nbsp;<br>Saozi Noodles is one of the traditional dishes that come from the Northwest region of China.          <title>Day #6 Process Journal </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Tina&nbsp;<br>Today we search more type foods and start to write about the foods. We start to add pictures to the Journal. Starting to plan the format of cards in game.&nbsp;<br><br>Cheryl<br>We work on the food cards during today's class period. Tina, Flora and I found the pictures of Dunhuang's traditional foods and we edit on it with photoshop (we make the pictures seem more like the oil painting, which is&nbsp;much artistic). After that, we make the food cards. We write the description and add the pictures in to let the audience knowing it from both of the visual and text perspective. Flora finds the stylish water waves pictures as the background of the food cards. We print the cards out, then we go to fourth floor to mold the plastic package for the cards. However, something that we don't expect happened, which is the cards sizes that we make are different. Some are longer and wider, some are shorter and thiner. We try to unify the size by cutting with the scissors.<br><br>Flora<br>We are finding different special foods in Dunhuang and write information about them. We need to find how they are made and what are they made form. After knowing them better we staring to write on padlet with brief descriptions. We also added pictures of different food that we write about so the player can have more visual understanding on them. We also want our cards to look pretty enough so it become more attractive. We decided to use different color of water waves for the back of our card. At the front we decided our font for writings and how should we do it for different card.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Religion <br>There are four types of religion that involved into our board game<br>1. Buddism <br>The religion of Buddhism was created by Buddha Shakyamuni. He lived and also taught people in India approximately two and half thousands years ago. His pure and innocent spirit is what the buddhists following. Buddhism reveals and spreads the ideas of piece, loving kindness and wisdom. <br>2. Islam <br>Islamism is a religious and political movement within Islam based on certain literal interpretations of the Quran. Islamism seeks to conform society to Sharia, which is the system of moral and religion of law that comes from Quran. Islamism almost defines the exact moral code to the whole society and individual. It perfectly explains the word Islam (which means submission) because it requires everyone submit to Sharia or death.<br>3. Christianity <br>Christianity is a religion based upon the teachings and miracles of Jesus.  From the perspective of Christianity, there is only one God, who created the entire world and the Adam and Eve. God created mankind within his image. Therefore, people represent the spirit and characteristic of god, people are worth to respect. Christianity is “relationship with the true and living God through the person of Jesus Christ by whom we are forgiven of our sins and escape the righteous judgment of God.<br>4. Judaism<br>Judaism, monotheistic religion developed among the ancient Hebrews. Judaism is characterized by a belief in one transcendent God who revealed himself to Abraham, Moses, and the Hebrew prophets and by a religious life in accordance with Scriptures and rabbinic traditions. Judaism is the complex phenomenon of a total way of life for the Jewish people, comprising theology, law, and innumerable cultural traditions.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Tina <br>Today we finish the writing of the foods. and brain storm more details about game, for example the ways player can success at the end of game. We write all the things we thought and prepare to draw. We decide to draw the map and laminate it, also draw out characters for the game. We wants to use the food information that we researched on the <br><br>Cheryl<br>I finish the religion cards today. Firstly, I search the Buddhism, Islam, Christianity and Judaism. I simply know what these religions believe and the history, then I summarize it and type in the word document. After that, I find pictures of these religions and add it into the document. I decided to laminate it during next class.  <br><br>Flora<br>We finish all the food cards for out game. We put all the descriptions and pictures of different foods on the document, and also laminate all the cards so they look like real cards inside games. We cut out the four corner so it look prettier and it’s not so sharp that people can get hurt. We also thought absit more details about the game that can help the game to be more creative. There are a few papers about details though that we wrote. Things such as how can player win the game successfully by the money that they win though out the game and goods that they traded. Within the details we though about we drew the game map that we need in the game. Such as different stands  and places player will cross. We also did the character cards in the game that the player will be and laminate them.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Day #8 Process Journal</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Tina <br>Today we decide the out looking of the cards and start working on it. We make part of the cards, print our and go printing center to laminate them. We were separate into two parts, one parts of the people is working on cards, another parts of is drawing map. We had a big discussing time in the middle of the class, is about the map of the game,  we have different opinion about number of stations in the map, but finally everyone make a step back and everyone had a agreement at last. <br><br>Cheryl<br>During today's class, I work on the character cards and the goods cards. We decided that their are four characters. After the discussion, Tina, Flora and I decided that the character cards should include character's name, nationality, photo, goods he/ she has at the beginning, goods they should collect at the end of the trip and their special skills. Firstly, I find four pictures as the characters, I send those to my phone and edit it to make it look like the sketch-paints, and I send it back to my laptop. Tina write the texts of the character cards, she send it to me, and I change a little bit, then put into the documents with the pictures to make card. After finish the character cards, I start to make the goods cards. We have already list the goods that we need before, so I search the these things on the google, I find the pretty one, then I drag them to my desktop. Then I put all of them into pages. I add the flourish on the pictures to tell what the goods are. I print it out at the end of the class.<br><br><br>Flora</div>]]></description>

         <title>Day #9 Process Journal </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Tina&nbsp;<br>we speed up in today's progress, we finish the making of cards and map, working on the justification of game rules, and we finish the of characters cards in the game. The distributing of the game rule is also complete. This is the last class working on our game designing. Looking back to the game system we designed at beginning and now. Is a big difference, as the progress we walk though, there the game become more and more complex but complete. Is a game we put&nbsp; lots effort and time.&nbsp;<br><br>Cheryl<br>Today I go laminate the character cards and good cards with Tina, and we three finish the map. Tina bought the A4 size Kraft paper online, and we stick them together to make a huge map. We designed three roads, each road has different spots. Tina find some cute hand-drawing pictures of Dunhuang architecture online, and we draw it on our own map. The whole game making is done. I spend the second period class to write the description of the game, which Ms. Chelsea said that it will be posted when the Student-led Conference.
