whilst I’ve enjoyed the beginning of a new start after lock-down & meeting new people, going into something new has been scary.

figuring out what to do for this boot camp project took a tricky start, with so many options to choose from and different things to consider, the mini skirt was my final decision.

3. it’s fashion week (but digital)

with London fashion week well under way, this year was very different with regards to COVID-19. most being digital; some successful, some needing work. all very much nature inspired, perhaps reflecting on isolation being the fashion worlds only influence and inspiration, with everyone being thrown into finding things to do outside.

we've been given our second project brief, and I am excited to say the least! this project is more hands on and creative and I cant wait to get stuck in!
I will use the advice given from my last project to really push myself this time and put more detail into my research and blog.

2. first term complete

i've finished my first term at the FRA! i've had the best time so far and can't wait to get back and jump right in, going to prepare a lot over the holiday and do as much research as i can.
when we get back I'm going to push myself to get out in London more and explore and I cant wait, been meaning to go out and this will be the perfect opportunity to gather inspo.
next week I plan to get started on my research project and do as much research I can over half term to maximise my time. I also plan to go out into my chosen town and take pictures, see what the high street is like and where my shop would be suitable.

3. half term

half term is going pretty well, I used it to the best of my advantage and have done all the necessary research. cant wait to get back in college!
I've learnt a lot about my brand and chosen area, and think this is going to work well.
next week I plan to go out into London and take pictures of my chosen store and look around to see how things work.

4. lockdown 2.0

Lockdown 2.0 has just been announced but we are still able to go on to college just without being able to store visits. This will be a downfall whilst finishing my project.
in the days leading up I plan to go to as many stores of my chosen store in London, to really see how they work in as many different aspects.

5. last outing before lockdown

The final day before lockdown 2.0 and we went to box park, Spitalfield Market, Brick Lane and Brushfield Street. This will be the only time I’m able to look at actual pop up store’s VM and physical stores. I think I made the most of my time and am excited what other have to say about there trips too.
I used this trip to the best of my advantage and did as much research as possible, to then next week put it into my research folder next week and develop other parts further.

6. online learning

having to work online has had its positives and negatives. being in my own space where i know I have everything has been good, I have maximised my time fully and the outcomes have been successful. I have been productive.
next week I plan to finalise all the bits I have done this week such as store design, fixture positions and logo design.
for Friday I must ensure I get my mood-board and collect swatches ready for next week.

7. practicing on photoshop and illustrator.

photoshop and illustrator are fairly new programmes to me and is something I am really enjoy but finding difficult to understand to start with.
I plan to try and develop these skills as much as possible so when it come to my time in industry I will be able to say I have these skills under my belt.

now we are back at college I will utilise being here to the best of my ability and ask my class mates, and teacher comments about my work while we are all together face to face so I know what to improve on and what they believe is working well. this will help me develop and push my work in the future to ensure its at the highest possible standard.

as part of this project we must work on our PPD for this to start, I have recently set up a LinkedIn account to start connecting with people from previous jobs and my current. I will use this over the cause of the year here at the FRA to connect with class mates and people I meet here. It will help me in the future potential get a job and keep in touch with good contacts.

10. things are coming together

slowly but surely I can feel my project coming together. however there are a few bits I need to work on and plan for the future.
having just learnt indesign, it is in my best interest that I get to grips with this more because it is very confusing. I should in the future play around with my project plan and try to create a plan I am happy with both the content and the aesthetics of it.
also for next week I must remember to bring in all my swatches for my physical mood-board to ensure its the best it can be, adding key furnishings and materials to show the concept clearly.

11. feeling overwhelmed

not long now till hand in and I’m feeling a bit over whelmed with everything, I really want to try and get the best I can on this project or I feel I might feel slightly de-motivated in the future.
to plan ahead I will finish all the final touches on loose bits of work to ensure that’s all done and under my belt (one less thing to worry about) ready for next week when I can make any major improvements before hand in.

tomorrow is hand in, and I'm feeling some what confident. looking back at my project its definitely an improvement from the last one, now having a greater understanding about all the necessary research methods and the purpose of this blog. final touches to do this evening is to look over everything, proof read and complete bibliography.

15. challenge week

after handing in my second project, it was challenge week. we had to create 3D moquette of the experiential or transitional zone in our store. I did the front table of my store showing the layout, products, furniture around and small glimpse of the instagram zone featured behind the front table. from this I really like how its turned out, the look and feel represent my mood boards and the overall outcome of how I wanted my pop-up to look. in the future I would maybe change a few things like how to represent the instagram zone, but within the time frame given I am happy.

16. after the presentation

after presenting my pop-up concept to the head of VM at John Lewis, I gained some really helpful feedback and things that went well. I was nervous to start and couldn't get my words out, so this might be something I need to improve on in the future. However feedback given was helpful, he said I backed the sustainable promise well and followed the brand values and key concepts well which has made me more confident in my work.

1. HN Industry Project

I am very excited to be back online at the FRA after an interesting Christmas! I'm even more excited to have Harvey Nichols setting us our industry project. I am really going to utilise my time during this project and try and make the most out of it, as it's only 2 weeks long.
We've been put into our groups and I am so please with how well our group is working, we all bounce off each others ideas and have come up with something exciting. Cant wait to carry on over the week and make it perfect!

2. HN Presentation Time!

This week is the big week! I must ensure I have completed all the work for my group so I don't let them down. This includes: mobile website showing products and a mood board to show are ideas into one.
The plan of action tomorrow is to run through everything with my group, tie all the loose ends, write a script and practice!

We have now presented and I think it went really well! We managed to get in all the key points and things to say, and everyone was happy! Hope HN enjoyed it!!

I am ready to get back to Project 3 now, I have completed a lot of research other Christmas that I feel will benefit my project as a hole. I am keen to see and learn more about things we maybe didn't touch on in Project 2. I am feeling some what motivated whilst we are still learning online, hopefully this won't change!

4. Lack of Motivation

It's week 4 now and the lack of motivation has kicked in :-( I am really struggling to keep focused and motivated now, online learning just isn't the same :-( However, I am determined to change this attitude for next week. I have created a checklist of things I must complete by next week so I don't feel as though I am behind whilst feeling unmotivated. This includes: finishing my SWOT analysis, creating and finishing my style board and finally mocking up a mobile app using previous Fiorucci images. I feel as though this is achievable and I will be able to do it!

5. Feeling Down

This week again has been really hard at the start to push myself and get into the spirit. However having breakout groups to discuss everyone else's ideas and problems has really helped me get into the spirit. The feedback from the groups has also really helped me and I now understand what I can do to develop my ideas further.
My to do list for the course of the next week includes: finalising my SWOT analysis, completing all design developments and continuing to add things to my research folder so its all coming together.

7. Motivation Station

This week I am feeling much more positive and motivate to get stuff done. However, after looking into planograms for the first time I am stuck. Im not sure how to make it look like the rails are in a room, all at the right angles, so this is something I will need to look into over the week. As well as this on my checklist this week is to finish my SWOT and Costings sheet and to update my wix portfolio.

So far this week has been my most productive and I can finally see everything coming together. By doing the floor fixture and product adjacencies plan I was able to visualise more what my wall planogram should and could look like - so I was able to get this done. I am still waiting to hear back from different mannequin companies so I can finish my costing sheet, so hopefully this won't be too long! Things to do over the course of the week include: a survey, complete costings and add all the final touches to my research padlet and project plan.

10. Day Before Hand In

I am feeling incredible stressed with a list of never ending jobs my main focus today is to get my project plan done whilst following the tips on all the presentations, bibliography, and finalise my introduction. What I need to do tomorrow will be finish my physical window and reading through all my work tying all final loose ends together. I feel this is achievable but won't feel happy until it's handed in.

13. Reflecting Over the Project

I definitely found this project the most challenging yet rewarding at the same time. I am really happy with the brand I chose - was such a cool brand to learn about. All the different aspects of this project were really interesting and definitely something I want to explore more in the future as well in jobs.

6. Personality Test

Today we had a session with Theresa where we looked into our personality and how we work in a role. It was interesting to learn about however I don't know how accurate my test was because there were certain aspects that I didn't agree with but some I did. I am going to re-take the test to see if the outcome is any different!

Over half term I have been feeling very productive, I have cracked on with a lot of research and completed my INP proposal, I am feeling confident right now and feel I have a good brief to work with. Over the course of half term I will be ensuring my research is near enough complete with only some final touches to do when we go back to college.

4. Back to college ... again !!

It’s my first week back in college after Easter and lockdown, and it feels good to be back. This week we are doing our window challenge and so far so good, I am really enjoying it. However I still have a lot to do for my INP, this includes: a SWOT analysis, surveys, and a comp shop from a recent visit to Selfridges!

This week, I have been really focusing on planning my final document and everything I want to include in this as well as what else I need to research in order to complete this. I am feeling some what confident, however I know I have a lot to do!
I also visited Selfridges, Coal Drops Yard and Dover Street Market to do some further primary research on competition and pop up stores.

6. Week 3 - Suzi’s Last Week

It’s a sad this week, as Suzi is leaving! However, everything happens for a reason and I believe Derek a new fresh pair of eyes could really be a positive for our final project and I’m ready for it!! I have a few things to finalise after feeling really motivate this week, so I am going to push myself to keep up the good work and being on track! I must finish and read over my SWOT, PESTLE and customer profile. Over the rest of the week and weekend I will start and finish my email design and social media posts, so I’m on track with my INP proposal plan.

7. Feeling Nervous

As the weeks go by and the deadline nears, I am feeling more and more nervous everyday. I feel like I am in a good place, however there is still plenty more work I need to be getting on with. Over the course of this week I will be coming up with all the first drafts of the design process, this includes swing tags, special tote bags for my bus, the layout of my bus, how my bus is going to look and the upcyling station that will be situated on my bus. I will ensure I add all my developments into my Padlet so I’m reaching for top marks and showing the stages of my design development. As well as this, I will continue to add to my research folder so everything I do in my work is backed up there.

8.Productive Weekend

This weekend I have felt very productive and cracked on with my work to the best of my ability. I have completed all first drafts of my design work which is a key part of my project. I am happy with the outcome of them and know what I need to go to develop them further. As well as this I have asked for feedback from my peers on my work so far to see what I can do to improve. I have gained a lot from this and has given me a clear head to produce my plan of action for the week ahead.

9. 3 weeks to go

I only have 3 weeks to go and I am feeling very stressed, the time seems to be flying by unlike previous projects which isn’t ideal. I am however keeping to my project proposal and everything seems to be running smoothly. Things I need to do this week is produce design work on photoshop and illustrator and keep developing my research Padlet so it will reflect my work in my indesign file. This week we also had a 1 to 1 with Derek. This has also given me a clearer head of what I need to do to my design work to develop them further. This was very helpful and made me feel less stressed but the clock is continuing to tik.

10. Really Wanting To Do Well

Over the weeks I have been putting a lot of pressure on myself to do well, I feel I have worked very hard over the course of this year, however I feel like I’m not getting anywhere. It’s starting to make me worry about the future of this project. However I have been sending my work to Derek to clarify what I’ve been doing well and not so much. This has given me an insight in areas I need to improve on such as the smaller parts of my project that I might not have thought about before. I will use this feedback through the duration of my final project to ensure everything is up to scratch.

11. Problem Occurred

I have faced a problem in my project. I have been researching into rotating and moving rails to sit on my bus to maximise the space, however my research has proven this will not be possible, due to rotating rails need a lot of space for the mechanics behind it. Therefore, I have come up with the solution of have 2 fixed rails coming out from the side of the wall, to have my products on. One will be up high and the other will be waist height. This also would be much safer when the bus is moving, which is an important factor I need to consider.

I have started to put together all the work I have done so far into an indesign file. This is shown me what I am not completely happy with and things I need to change. This includes my consumer profile board and concept board. Some of the pictures on them do not quite match with my indesign theme of red, white and black (the colours of depop) so this has allowed me to continue to develop my work throughout my project.

13. 2 weeks to go!

We have only 2 weeks left of our INP. I can slowly feel my work coming together however, I do not want to rush anything, or miss out any small important details. My to do list for this week is finish of my Branding/marketing pack for my concept and tie all the loose ends together for the concept section on my indesign file. I feel this will all be achievable to complete by next week.

With only 1 week to go, emotions are running high and the adrenalin is kicking in. My plan of action this week is to finalise the route of my bus, product adjacencies and floor layout. I have also been playing around with my indesign file to make it look sleek and professional, so far I am happy with how it’s looking. Thinking ahead for next week, I want to have my Padlet and all work I’ve done into my indesign file, so I can write up everything on our final week and be complete ready for hand in.

I am feeling very nervous about the upcoming days. I’m not sure what the future is going to bring and what the outcome of this project might be. I must check over all my final parts of this project, including my padlet to ensure it’s all up to scratch ready for hand in.

It’s the day before hand in and I’m feeling excited but nervous !! Today I must ensure everything in my final document has been proof read and all makes sense. Now is also the time for me to complete everything, to allow me time on the day of hand in to add an extra details needed to make my project perfect.

Hand in day has arrived!! It’s come around so quickly! I believe I have worked to my own highest possible standard. There is not else I can do now but hope all the hard work I’ve done will soon pay off. I need to read through my INP one more time and add the last final touches. I will also get 2 of my friends to proof read to just see if there is any final pieces I could add.

I am feeling nervous but I know I’ve done everything I can to ensure this project is up to scratch. I am proud of myself for what I’ve achieved at the FRA, I can’t wait to put my skills into real life work! I’m very excited to see what the future holds for me.
