We do not want anyone missing their practical lessons, nor do we want excessive waste by ordering for students who aren’t sure if they need it providing or not. Many thanks!

24th July: Students break up for Summer Holiday at 12.20pm

13th August: A-level Results Day from 8-9am (clearing students only) and 9-10am for all other students

20th August: GCSE Results Day from 9am-1pm

2nd September: Years 7, 11, and 12 return only

3rd September: All other years return

14th September: Year 5/6 Open Evening

5th October: 6th Form Open Evening

16th October: Students break up for half-term holiday

2nd November: All students return to the academy

Friday 24th July – Last Day of Term

All pupils will leave the academy at 12.20pm following their morning lessons. From 11.20am to 12.20pm, pupils will take part in a whole-academy quiz to round off the year. This proved hugely popular last year, particularly given how competitive our tutor groups can be!

September Return Arrangements

Following our INSET Day on 1st September, pupils will return to the academy on a staggered basis as follows:

Wednesday 2nd September

• Year 7

• Year 11

• Year 12

Thursday 3rd September

Equipment for Learning and Independent Learning

In September, we will be launching a new strategy to strengthen independent learning opportunities for our pupils. This will include a more structured approach to setting independent learning tasks and a clearer process for submitting completed work. We believe these changes will support pupils to make stronger progress, retain more of what they learn and feel increasingly confident when completing assessments.

Alongside this, we are introducing a prescribed equipment list to ensure every pupil has the essential resources needed to be successful in their learning at Brunts Academy.

Compulsory Items:

• Pens – black or blue for classwork and green for improvement tasks

• Pencil

• Ruler

• Rubber

• Highlighter

• Rucksack or satchel (handbags no longer permitted) large enough to carry Independent Learning folders and PE kit

Optional Items:

• Scientific calculator – pupils benefit from having their own calculator that they can practise with and become familiar using

• Whiteboard pen

  
  

We will share further information about both of these initiatives through a recorded presentation, ensuring you have everything you need to support your child in preparing for the new academic year.

It was wonderful to see everyone dressed to impress, making memories with friends, laughing, dancing, and celebrating everything they have achieved over the past five years. You should all be incredibly proud of yourselves and of how far you have come.

A big shout out to our podium sitters; in 3rd we have Phoenix Racing, taking up the 2nd spot we have Comet Racing, and our STEM Racing 2026 Champions are…

APEX RACING!!

All the teams and their members should be incredibly proud of their efforts and achievements!

APEX Racing will now represent The Brunts Academy at next years Regional Final, let’s see how they handle their first season!

We will be back next year for another season of STEM Racing, who will take pole position for 2027?

Students have designed their boardgame using CAD and then used the laser cutter and 3D printer to print, cut and manufacture their games. Here are a few of our finished projects.

A new display of university tote bags in the sixth form IT room also showcases some of the universities they spoke to at the UCAS fair.

It was an amazing day which all students enjoyed! Orphan animal adoption results will be announced on Friday Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.

Not sure who had more fun though - staff or students. Same time next year?!

With fewer schools there this year, students were able to try a lot more of the main attractions and there were lots of beaming faces as we returned to Brunts!
