This quote ties into Percy Jackson perfectly. Percy's mother did EVERYTHING for him. She married "Smelly Gabe," a man who does not deserve to smile at her, and who totally unappreciated her kindness, just to keep monsters off of Percy's scent. She sacrificed herself so that Percy would go to a safe place, (Camp Half Blood) and was always kind and understanding whenever he got suspended or expelled from another school.
