Iran era un país relativamente joven, era una colonia francesa que británica. Después de la Primera Guerra Mundial divina del territorio sin respetar divisiones anteriores. 
En el norte estaban los kurdos, en el centro los sunitas y en el sur los árabes chiitas. 
En 1979 los ayatolá toman del poder en Irán. Irak invade Irán 80-88.
EUA se hace rico vendiendo armas. Irak queda en ruinas. Sadam Hussein usa el gas sarín para reprimir a los kurdos en el norte.
Después de la guerra las fronteras no cambiaron, sadam endeudado e Irak decidió atacar Kuwai. 
EUA decidió atacar a Irak porque pensó que Irak tenía que haber con el ataque de las torres gemelas. Estados unidos desmantela el ejército de Sadam, los soldados se quedan sin trabajo, se unen a la insurgencia.
El gobierno queda en manos de Chiitas y los sunitas sienten rechazo.
En el 2011 estados unidos decide retirarse sin pena ni gloria.
