I think there are gender roles at GWHS but at a limited capacity compared to society. An example would be a cheerleader which is from what I see, all female. Another example is being the school nurse at GWHS which from what I see is also female dominated.

At GWHS I feel like there are some gender/social roles although not much in my opinion. An example is how some clubs are limited to only a single gender/race, but other than that I feel like most of the school promotes individuality.

I believe that there are "social-roles" and "gender roles" at GWHS but its very limited compared to Japanese Highschools. An example can be the the football team. Everyone is allowed to join but I believe that it's mainly targeted to guys instead of girls which is why there aren't any girls on the time.

California is a very liberal state, so it's not a surprise that many people are very open to stop stereotypical gender and social roles. However, it's a very subconscious thing that we've learned since childhood. As we try to reach this goal of equality, some of our programs at GWHS, like Rock The Wall Street (a financial program), only accepts female and non-binary students. It's...interesting, and it makes me question whether we are actually on the goal of equality or not.

I think that a high school student should be a model citizen, following the rules of the school without protest. If you cant follow rules at school then how does one follow rules in society? A good high school student should also value their grades. Grades are an important factor to college and future employers as it shows work ethic and time management skills.

There may be a couple things although most things in the present are a lot less discluding than in the past. I guess a few examples could be a girls only coding club at school or sports teams that are only for one gender, like baseball, since the girls only play softball.

There probably are some gender roles or social roles at GWHS but it isn't as prevalent as it is outside of school. Most classes, sports, and clubs are open to all genders, with some targeting specific groups. There's also bathrooms to accommodate for non-binary students.

Being yourself? It may be a simple answer - to be unafraid of what anyone thinks. It seems possible, to "be yourself"; but is that really true? Can we all actually be free to be ourselves without the pressure of our role in society?

Anyways, I think being yourself means that you are truly free of any sort of pressure - of our own roles, and find inner peace in ourselves that we are happy for who we are. That's something we all want; don't we?
