Our central collage features a vast world map encircled by a progression from black and white to vibrant color, forming a visual narrative. The black and white photos evoke seriousness, sadness, and loneliness, portraying elements linked to war. In contrast, the colorful photos exude vibrancy, showcasing hopeful elements such as animals and children.

Culminating in the theme "escape," our magazine unfolds the tale of an adult yearning to break free from the pressures and constraints of reality, and she seeks refuge in a beautiful, positive fantasy world of personal creation.

Through our magazine, we aspire to encourage self-discovery and the pursuit of genuine passions, urging individuals to embrace their inner selves.

Tuesday marked the commencement of our inaugural group project—a captivating endeavor focused on crafting a magazine. Our collective efforts efficiently culminated in the completion of intricate mind maps, setting the stage for a creative and collaborative journey ahead.

The two pages I crafted constitute the pivotal middle segment of the entire magazine, marking a significant transition from a monochromatic palette to a vibrant burst of colors. This juncture serves as the narrative turning point, where the magazine's thematic essence takes a transformative leap.​

Character Analysis: Marked by a round head shape, sharp triangular eyes and nose, and a minimalist, single-line mouth expression, the characters sport slender limbs.​

Style Analysis: The image predominantly features a vintage color scheme with subdued tones, particularly in the background. Contrasting this, vivid colors adorn the protagonist, strategically capturing the reader's focus and establishing a compelling visual impact, emphasizing a focused composition.​

Her distinctive touch lies in the retention of brushstrokes, akin to those crafted with colored lead. This design choice enhances the picture's vibrancy. Each piece unfolds like a narrative, conveying not just characters' emotions but also intricately designed surroundings, speaking volumes to the readers.​

The teacher pointed out that there is too much text in our PPT, which will make it difficult for the audience to listen to what the speaker is saying while watching the content on the screen. What we need to improve is to reduce the number of words on the PPT and only leave important content.

We need to use A4 paper to quickly sketch the architecture, scenery, and life in Elephant & Castle. I think this is a very interesting project. We don't need to draw it in great detail and perfection, what's more important is the quantity and speed. I can hold my notebook and stand by the roadside to complete a sketch in 5 minutes, which greatly exercises my sketching ability.

I think these images are very stunning and attractive.

In his view, depicting a naked female body is merely a loyalty to nature, a loyalty to what he is interested in. He expresses radicalism in his works in response to various inherent biases of society towards human nature—rather than silence and obedience, it is better to confront it with childlike sincerity. His works boldly challenge social taboos and controversial erotic themes.

I divided the screen into five to six parts and designed some simple shapes.

2. Write project brief and statement.

The venue is a Gothic style building that showcases over a hundred exquisite glass crafts with a hundred years of history. There are many dreamy and unique shaped glass products, such as hearts.

But the duration of this project is very short, only three weeks, so I must arrange the daily workload to ensure that the project is completed before the deadline.

3. The teacher introduced a website called linked in, and I have registered it.

We focused on this word, and this word represents a very interesting behavior, which I think is similar to the definition of imagination. When we see two different pictures, our brain will automatically associate the two pictures and simulate the process of transitioning from the first picture to the second picture. This behavior is called text position.

I have decided to choose the topic of media, and the topic I want to study is the influence of picture books on children's growth.

As I document my own feelings and experiences, a theme is deeply rooted in my personal life and emotions: homesickness. It's not just a superficial longing, but a deep pain of the familiar comfort of home, the loving embrace of family and the happy company of a pet dog.

Imaginative Themes:

Blends natural and fantastical elements, like cats on balloons or people among giant flowers, drawing viewers into a whimsical world where reality and fantasy merge.

Disney excels in storytelling, meticulously crafting every character, scene, and detail to enhance the narrative.  This emphasis on storytelling highlighted the need for me to prioritize developing emotionally resonant narratives in my own animations, ensuring every on-screen element advances the story and connects with the audience.

Characters are central to Disney’s animations, with each hero or villain carefully designed to have distinct motivations and growth arcs.  The exhibition underscored the importance of spending time on character development in my work, aiming to create characters that are not only visually engaging but also relatable and multi-dimensional.

The exhibit showcased both finished pieces and works-in-progress, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning and refinement in animation.  This reminder has encouraged me to consistently seek feedback and opportunities for improvement, refining my techniques and skills.

David Sierra's portrayal of characters is very distinctive, especially the facial features and expressions. Since most of his works are of children, he enlarges the heads and eyes of the characters, highlighting their cute and lively appearance.

Furthermore, there is a detail in the design of some characters' eyes. David Sierra draws the eyes as sharp ovals, giving a playful and quirky impression. This is also a special charm of the characters in David Sierra's works.

Interactive elements: A combined picture on the back adds an interactive element to the packaging, encouraging consumers to collect all four boxes to complete the image. This can increase engagement and make the unboxing experience more fun and rewarding.

I was inspired by the London Zoo I visited at the weekend. I selected four of my favorite, very distinctive animals, transformed their images into a small monster, and designed the packaging.

Amanita muscaria, commonly known as the fly agaric or fly amanita, is a basidiomycete of the genus Amanita. It is a large, conspicuous mushroom. Emerging from the soil looking like white eggs. After emerging from the ground, the cap is covered with numerous small white to yellow pyramid-shaped warts.

Variety in Size: The eyes vary in size, creating a dynamic and engaging composition. Larger eyes dominate the scene and draw immediate attention, while smaller eyes add depth and complexity.

Bold Outlines: The eyes are outlined with black lines that make them stand out against the background. This technique ensures clarity and emphasizes the shapes of the eyes.

First, I gathered reference photos of people dancing from Internet.  Analyzing these images, I closely examined how the dancers' limbs and bodies coordinated their movements. With this understanding, I began sketching drafts, continuously refining the shapes to simplify the movements without losing the essence of dance.

Dynamic Look: The bubble shape adds movement and fluidity, making the title dynamic and lively, helping the packaging stand out compared to traditional shapes.

I also tried a lot of color combinations.

Origami packaging is not the most practical or important packaging design, so they are suitable for display packaging.

This modern packaging template looks visually very powerful. Modernize the packaging style by combining the black and white design with the sans-serif font.

Labels can be attached to bottles, or other items, super simple design and easy to print. A well-designed label can bring a cute look to the packaging, like these soap packaging label templates.

At the beginning of this project, the first task was to identify the target audience, which mainly included children and their parents. Knowing who they are, their likes and interests is crucial, so I compiled a list of customer information as a reference. This forms the basic approach to the design process. Whether a young person's goal is eye-catching graphics, or an adult's primary requirement is practicality, the design must resonate with the client on a personal level. This preliminary research phase not only provides an aesthetic direction for the packaging design, but also imparts a deeper semiotic meaning to the visual elements chosen for the design.

After determining the target group, I focused on trying various shapes and colors, exploring the effects of different patterns and colors on the packaging surface. Among them, the artist Mr.Doodle gave me a lot of inspiration. Through investigation, I found that simple patterns and rich colors can arouse children's interest and desire to explore, so I designed a lot of pattern packaging.

In addition, these dolls are designed through the transformation of animals, not only as a souvenir gift, but also as a way to help people understand animals. Resonates with a younger audience and is in line with parents' desire to nurture these qualities in their children.

In order to effectively communicate this innovative design to the target audience, the final stage of the project involved art direction and photography. This stage is crucial to ensure that the visual appeal of the package is as compelling in marketing materials as the physical form. This is not just a description of the product, but a part of the narrative that conveys the joy, adventure, and safety that the product symbolizes. The image has to resonate with children, who are attracted to the fantasy of the product, and parents reassured by the educational implications of the product.

The design process of this project was not only a practical journey of packaging aesthetics, but also an emotional exploration, reflecting my own creative spirit and passion. Throughout the project, I felt a deep sense of joy and accomplishment.

A1: I often sketch various small figures when I'm bored, combining elements and characters I've been thinking about and drawing recently. For example, after studying European knight armor and making numerous sketches, I used this material to create a human king character.

Q2: What factors do you consider when making a children's picture book?

A2: The story's content is my primary focus. Since children think differently from adults, I try to write in a simple and straightforward manner that they can easily understand. I also use bright colors and simple shapes to capture their attention.

Q3: Could you recommend a picture book?

A3: ”Wolf Erlbruch's 'Duck, Death and the Tulip'" is a thoughtful book about life and death, where death gently helps a duck accept its fate. While some may think this theme is too negative for children, I believe it's important. The author portrays death calmly and soothingly, teaching children to cherish life and not fear death. This book conveys a valuable message about appreciating each day and facing life's end without regret.
