When I taught 4th grade, I would give the students their Social Studies textbook and ask them to explore the content and look at the pictures, topics, etc and make predictions about what'd they be learning. I walked over to one group and heard a boy exclaim, "I think we are going to learn about the CONSTIPATION proclamation!" :)

When I was student teaching in a special ed pre-k class, I read "The Night Before St. Patrick's Day" to the class for St. Patrick's Day. One of the little girls raised her hand at the end and said "I love that story! Do you read it to your kids?" I replied, "I'm so glad you like it! I don't have any kids to read it to at my house." She looked at me like that was the craziest thing she ever heard and said "Do you even have any FRIENDS to read it to?!?"

He seriously thought we lived at school. They both looked shocked when I said, "Nope. Where do you think we sleep?" This seems common with Kindergartners.

My first year teaching and it was 1st grade. I had a 5 year old in my class who came from a traumatic background and was ODD. One day we weren't able to find her and there are built in shelves within the classroom. We faintly heard the student say "I'm in here" in which we had to take a part the shelving unit to get her out of the bottom drawer... at the end of the day. All because a kid put her in it and she told them to shut it.

During our first year of using Deanslist, I was contacting a parent about some very middle school behaviors their child was exhibiting in class. After about 3 contacts (to which the parent alway responded being supportive), we realized that the student was in kindergarten with the same name as one of our middle schoolers... lol mom and dad were very concerned that their kinder child would know any of the terms being used or topics haha

My first year of teaching one of my kinder kiddos opened his snack and saw that his mom had packed him a chocolate pudding as opposed to the cheese stick he wanted. I opened the pudding and put the spoon in saying this is the only snack he had. He then took the spoon and flung it towards the ceiling yelling "I TOLD MY MOM I WANTED A CHEESE STICK." The stain from the pudding that made it to the ceiling is still there.
